I went here today with 4 elderly members of family who have been coming here for years. The food was as always magnificent, however we were left upset and astounded by the incredibly rude service from one of the waitresses. We were told we had to be out by 1, which is understandable as they were busy, but the tone she took with us was unnecessarily cold. We felt so rushed that we got up as soon as it looked clear at the carvery, only to be told we had to sit down and wait for another table to go up first. When it was apparently time for us to go up, the rude lady called to us from the bar that we can go up now. She didnât even come to the table to tell us. Four members of the party have hearing aids and didnât hear her, so she asked âare you blanking me?â When we said we were confused by the system (and by the manor in which she was talking to us) she asked âare you trying to be difficult?â We didnât even have time to finish our plates or have dessert, even though the people who were due to take our table hadnât actually arrived. When it came to paying we were told âweâre good at taking money off youâ and âyou can sit in the bar next timeâ. This is simply unacceptable and the worst bit of customer service Iâve ever experienced. There was no respect for us whatsoever. I must stress that each quote is word for word what she said. Itâs so bold in my memory that I canât forget her unkindness. Weâre a regular customer at the half moon and all think of the place very highly, however this was so disappointing that it completely ruined the family occasion. I want to stress that we love the restaurant itself and the rest of the staff are lovely and super friendly - it was just this one lady who was utterly unpleasant towards all of us. That was enough to ruin our whole meal. I would like to hope that if we did come back again, we are met with a different waiter/ waitress. I donât know what she had against us or what we did wrong but it felt completely unreasonable. I appreciate people have bad days but to take this out on regular, paying staff...
Read moreI have been here twice over the weekend and have mixed reactions to both the visits - I visited on Saturday with my partner the services went above and beyond, I canât remember the servers name but she was a young girl with blonde hair and she was amazing. The food itself was lovely a little bit pricey for what it was but with the costs of everything going up you can understand it. However we also visited for Sunday lunch (prior I have never been here) I thought weâd give it a go but honestly after today I will never go back. We had a very rude member of staff with short hair and with denim shorts on. We went up for food as we had booked so assumed we would just go up when the queue was short which we did however we had some guy come over to us telling us we shouldnât have got up and we should have waited and to wait until they were ready I felt like I was back in school not trying to spend time with my family we got made to go back to our seats (there was 1 person in front of us at this point so itâs not as if it was busy). We were debating whether to walk out after this however we were all hungry so decided to stay and I wish we left, the food was honestly the worst Sunday lunch I had ever had in my life- the potatoes were hard, meat was tuff and dry, veggies tasted like ones you could get from the supermarket. The only thing I did end up eating was the stuffing balls as they were lovely. I went up to go to complain however the lady took a while to serve me and had to get my train. I would never recommend this place to anyone - try Rubyâs or Stamps if youâre after something lovely đ If youâre a vegetarian you do have to let them know before you get called up as we didnât know we had to wait 10 or so minutes for the nut roast which was...
Read moreBooked for 7 of us today for my birthday after eating here numerous times before but don't know what's gone wrong here, we were sat in the bar where customers had dogs with them, the waitress took our drinks orders and then we were called up to the carvery. Condiments were in individual dishes uncovered with a few flies swarming around them. When we took our food back to the table, our food was luke warm, mash like play dough and carrots hard and had mud on the skin still on there, another couple sat near us complained as well, only my partner ate it but said he only ate because he was starving! The older waitress came over and we explained about the poor quality of food and she took our full plates away then avoided our table for almost an hour until we asked for the bill. In fairness they only charged for the one meal eaten and our drinks. This isn't about slating the place as we've had wonderful Sunday lunches there, but maybe a lesson learned and ensuring that the quality of food is up to the standard that it used to be before. Very...
