Spice Tree Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in Wales

Ordered 2 set meals on new years eve and was really dissapointed with the service, food. The order was nearly an hour late and was missing a chutney tray and poppadoms. The 2 onion bajhee starters were freezing as was the cold mains. I phoned to complain and was told to expect cold food as it was cold outside! I was offered 2 options,

1. new starters and my chutney tray to be brought to me but was told this would be an hour, or
2. next time I made an order my 2 starters would be replaced and I would receive my chutney tray and poppadoms that were missing first time. I phoned tonight to make an order and was told point blank that they would not honour this and I should of just waited on new years eve to have a replacement order. She was extremely rude and sarcastic over the phone even though I tried to be polite and explain I understood if they were busy on that particular day. Then spoke to the manager who wasn't any help either and was told I should expect my food to be early, on time or late depending on how busy they are! ( yes but not nearly an hour). I then explained I would now be posting this review and would not be placing any further orders and the reply was " do not blackmail us" and then they hung up. I feel disappointed as I have recommended this place to people previously, but would never recommend again. Avoid, avoid, avoid and...

Ordered a takeaway from here this evening via just eat. I don't normally post poor reviews but decided to after I called the restaurant to offer feedback and the employee became defensive and offered no apology or wanted to take my points on board. I didn't call for a refund or any discount, I just wanted to give some advice and explain my disappointment.

Butter chicken was very oily and lacked any spice (even for a mild dish) I was told this was because of the butter added and if I wanted it spicy I should call in advance and ask for spice. The lamb dish I ordered was very similar, little spice or seasoning The lamb meat was ok and I've had a lot worse from takeaways. The chicken was a little dry but I was told this wasn't possible as it's cooked in the sauce and they were told previously by another customer tonight that the chicken was melt in the mouth.. The order was late, and food needed reheating so potentially added to the over cooking of the chicken, maybe that was my fault. My £9.95 chicken tandoori lacked spice and chicken, the leg was cut from the thigh and squashed into a tray with lots of onion's.

Usually there's empty tubs after a takeaway in our house but not tonight..

Advice for the restaurant - don't be so defensive when offered feedback...

Last minute reservation for that evening on a Friday bank holiday weekend was no problem whatsoever, we were invited to our table by the loveliest hostess, waiter and bar service 1st class ,casual not over the top.children were welcome and engaged with too which was a lovely touch. Whilst we were there there we groups of friends with kids, couples, a boys night out in the next room, walk ins, take always, regulars and new customers each and every one met with the same lovely reception.
