Tafarn Tanerdy — Restaurant in Wales

There was only one lady serving at the bar and taking food orders. The pub was busy. One chap on his own serving all the table. A LOT of food was not available. It would have been quicker to say what was on offer. I had mushrooms to start. They were nice and hot. My friend had ordered steak as a main course. After I had finish my mushrooms, the one lady serving told us there was no steak. It seemed late to let us know that. My friend then ordered Hunter's chicken. It was virtually just chicken with bacon on it. Literally one strand of grated cheese on it and about half a teaspoon of barbeque sauce. The lady serving went to get some BBQ sauce that was in a bottle and cold grated cheese. She was helpful but it made my friends dinner cold. That's not acceptable. I used to work in kitchens myself cooking carvery's etc... and I would not have sent that out of a kitchen. My fish became stone cold half way through. It wasn't that hot to start with. We learnt that there was so much food not available as the company has changed hands and suppliers. They food HAS to come from the normal suppliers and the truck was stuck in traffic. FROM THE WEST MIDLANDS TO WALES!!! The previous suppliers was just down the road! The truck delivers to the pub 3 times a week. That makes zero financial sense. That pub will close before long. Good business sense means each pub pays for itself and is not propped up by the finances of one that is doing well. It's a bit much looking forward to going out for lunch but leave feeling grateful to have found anything to eat at all! Good luck keeping...

I ordered the vegan burger, which consisted of an aubergine and Chickpea patty. When it arrived, I bit into it and immediately realised it was not the patty. It tastded of meat so i sent it back. The waitress took it to the kitchen and a couple of minutes later brought it back and put it in front of me and said 'chef said its vegan'. I replied, that it might be, but still wasn't what i had ordered, the Chickpea patty. She took it away again and again, brought it back and said that they had swapped the patty for the fake meat, but its still vegan. I said, ok i just wont eat the burger. She said fine. Then a minute or 2 later asked if i wanted mushroom pasta in replacement. I said no thank as i would be eating on my own as everyone else will have finished. "it really doesn't take THAT long' she replied. I also don't like mushrooms so the pasta was not a viable alternative. The reason i am complaining is 3 fold. One, I didn't order the fake meat. And to be told it was still vegan was completely irrelevant. If someone oedered a chicken burger and a beef burger came out, no one would say 'well its still meat'! Secondly i should have been offered my money back as i didnt get my meal! I just got some chips. I wasn't even offered a free drink, OR even an apology. I was made to feel like i was being silly for not wanting the burger i didn't order. Thirdly, some people are allergic to soya and this has huge consequences. The restaurant is lucky that no one with an allergy ordered...

I recently came here for a meal with my girlfriend and unfortunately it was one of the worst dining experiences either of us have had. We spent £55 in total on meals that we both found extremely disappointing.

I ordered a burger but the bun was completely stale and rock hard. The chicken itself was bland and unappetising quite possibly the worst I’ve ever tasted. My partner ordered a roast dinner which was equally disappointing. The roast potatoes had an odd chemically taste and the rest of the meal was equally flavourless. It’s difficult to describe just how underwhelming the food was.

To make matters worse, the service was intrusive. Staff repeatedly interrupted our meal asking if everything was okay which I understand there trying to be polite but it wasn't just once or twice but multiple times where it became frustrating and extremely unpleasant. One staff member in particular came over around five times along with others, making it hard to enjoy any part of the experience.

The only good part was the dessert that we had a chocolate brownie and cheesecake which was decent but it certainly didn’t justify the cost or compensate for the poor quality of the main meals and uncomfortable service.

Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend this place, and I certainly won’t...
