What can I say. We are regular customers of the Tamarind and have had many lovely meals both in the restaurant and take-away.
Placed an order at 8pm tonight to be told there was a wait for 1.5 hours. 9.30pm came and no sign of the takeaway. Called the Tamarind and was advised that the food had just been bagged up and they were waiting for the delivery driver to come back and we would be the first to be delivered.
Called again at 9.50pm and was told still waiting for the driver. At this point I asked to speak to a Manager. I heard the waiter say to another colleague "take this call and just tell her you are the Manager"...nice! I was waiting for 10 minutes to speak to someone whilst my brother phoned on another line. He advised that I was waiting to speak to a Manager and then my call was hung up.
We were then told by the woman who works behind the bar that the food had just come out of the kitchen...complete liars! We have now cancelled our order and will never place an order here again.
I am sure the Tamarind will continue to do well but they have lost us as customers and I will ensure that I spread the word on the "service" I...
Read moreI asked if a garlic chili chicken was possible, as it wasn’t listed on the menu, I was told ‘yes, no problem’ , oh my God ! I’ve had countless curries over the years & I can honestly say this dish was one of the best in flavour I’ve ever had, if not the best! , it was absolutely stunning! He reached across to pick up my side plate, completely unannounced , while I was talking to my dining partner, his sleeve almost dragging in my food, very rude ! Also, I tried three different brands ( pints ) of lager, the carling xtra cold & the Kingfisher were almost warm , far from optimum temperate, although the pint of San Miguel was spot on, but I must say the positive does outweigh the negative, beautiful...
Read moreVisited on a Sunday evening, and restaurant was very quiet, so not able to comment on service if it was a busy time. I was served quickly by polite and attentive staff. Meal came quickly after ordering. Lamb tikka starter was tender and tasty with a lots of lamb. Main course of chicken kula puri was excellent. Full of flavour with lots of chicken and just enough of the whole green chillies which typically give the dish its kick. Side dishes of boiled rice and plain naan were as you would expect. Meal for one came to £25, but this included two large bottles of bangla at £3.95 each. Overall reasonably priced for the standard of the food provided. Restaurant has it's own car park at the rear, and is situated at the southern end of the town, close to the junction with the Risca bypass, making it easily accessible. I would gladly...
