We had the most incredible stay at The Carpenters Arms in Laugharne – hands down one of the best experiences we’ve ever had! From the moment we arrived, Pete and Bex were the perfect hosts. Nothing was too much trouble – they went out of their way to accommodate our dietary requirements, and the food was absolutely phenomenal. Every meal was spot-on, beautifully cooked, and bursting with flavour.
The service was 5-star throughout – not only from Pete and Bex but also from their wonderful staff, who made us feel so welcome and at home. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and a real cut above what you’d expect – the perfect base for exploring the area.
And what an area it is! Laugharne itself is magical, with Dylan Thomas’ Boathouse just a short walk away. We also loved visiting Laugharne Castle, Pendine Sands, Tenby, and Carew Castle, all within easy reach. There’s a perfect mix of history, stunning coastline, and beautiful countryside right on the doorstep.
We honestly can’t recommend The Carpenters Arms highly enough – whether you’re staying the night or just dropping in for a meal, you’ll be treated like family. Pete and Bex are truly the heart and soul of this place, and it shows in every detail.
We can’t wait to come back – a proper...
Read moreI was so looking forward to the Sunday lunch and on arrival the place was cosy and inviting. However, that's the only good bit of the review! We were shown to our table and the server said they didn't have menu's and proceeded to read the menu from a scrap of paper. She rushed us into deciding what to have and when asked what was the children's menu she said "a smaller portion of the adults size". The meal came and the food was cold, so we asked them to heat up our meals. They gave us a fresh dinner each but with things missing like "roast potato" (considering it was a Sunday Roast we were there for, it was atrocious) Also, the "cauliflower cheese" that we'd put on our plates, was missing. It came with no gravy the second time either but with a ton of swede that I didn't have on my plate in the first place. Turns out the server was the Manager and she had the worst attitude ever, she should not be front of house, when reading the menu, she was rude and told the kids to "sit up and listen". She also, picked up the can of coke, one of the children had, and poured it into his glass without asking if he wanted it poured! There was no apology and we definitely won't...
Read moreI've given 3 stars as the staff were so friendly. The menu on their website isn't the same as what's on the large blackboard they bring to your table. We booked a table as we both fancied a nice pub curry. I ended up having chicken provencal as my first 2 choices (curry and chilli) were unavailable. It was basically a few chunks of chicken in a sauce that tasted heavily of tomato puree and not much else, accompanied by rice which was clumped together and soggy. The staff were nice and kept apologising for the long wait saying they were extremely busy (although the place looked quiet. It was so late by the time we got our food that I ate what I could but it honestly wasn't very nice and I'd never recommend it or go again. I'd prefer to be told that the menu was limited and that we'd have a long wait...then at least you have the chance to try...
