I called the restaurant to ask if they offer any halal options as Cardiff has limited halal Chinese options. They said yes they offer halal meats. I then politely asked if they cook halal and non halal separately (reasonable question due to cross contamination).
I was totally shocked with how rude the restaurant was in response and have never had a response like this anywhere else.
The man angrily said “what a stupid question of course we cook things separately” and hung up on me.
Safe to say I did not end up placing an order due to the rudeness and lack of care. People with allergies would likely have similar questions so I’d personally avoid if they get so annoyed by this sort of question.

Read moreWe attended The Crispy Duck last night to celebrate our daughters 19th birthday. Everything was perfect, from ease of online booking, to arriving and being seated in the beautiful clean, calm restaurant. The staff were quick to take our drinks order but gave us plenty of time to choose from the extensive menu.
Every single item we ordered from Sake to dessert were not only presented beautifully but tasted divine!
You could tell Everything was freshly prepared and the portion sizes were generous. The prices were excellent especially for a big city!
As we started to eat dessert the music changed to happy birthday and a full birthday cake was delivered to our table, this was a complete surprise to us and such a beautiful touch from the owners!
We highly recommend The Crispy Duck, every aspect of the restaurant is designed to make your dining...

We received a warm welcome and seated quickly with menus to peruse.
The restaurant is clean and modern looking inside and deceptively spacious.
The menu covers all of the favourites and a few other items from Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, China, and Thailand.
Food arrived in good time and was all very well presented, tasty and plentiful portions and all plates were empty when we were done which is an excellent indication that the food was good, which it was, I would say it was excellent.
The bill was £100 for starters, mains, sides and drinks for 4 adults, including a decent tip, which is very good indeed, we thought.
We would highly recommend the Crispy Duck to anyone in or...
