Black Salt — Restaurant in Wales

I visited Black Salt two nights ago as our annual Christmas meal out with the ladies from my gym.

I had never been there before and when I arrived it looked to have a lovely atmosphere.

I will start by saying that there was no complaints regarding the food. The food was nice.

The staff however VERY rude and also very slow and unorganised.

They took over half an hour to come and take our food order (a set two course meal). The waitress took our starter order and then came back around to do our main order. I have no idea why she didn't just do it all in one go to save time.

The starters came out well over an hour of waiting. In fact 4 of our party had finished their starters whilst everyone else on our table was waiting for theirs.

I had to leave the meal shortly after as I had to go and collect my friend from work, and because the starter took so long I asked if my main could be cooked first.

The older larger blonde lady I addressed was very rude to me saying it wasn't her problem and I should speak to the waitress.

The other lady seemed friendly and said no problem.

Again, 4 of our party received their main meals before everyone else and I was still waiting. Despite being told my meal would be out first.

I politely asked the other waitress with long dark hair and she was extrude to me saying can't you see we are busy!

The lady's I was with were disgusted by how she spoke to me, as was I!

There is NO need for rudeness!

Also if you can't handle the heat then get out of the kitchen! You do not speak to paying customers like that for no reason!

I noticed they are advertising for waitress's on the front door and I can see why, because the ones they have are rude and have no idea what they are doing.

Unorganised chaos to be honest.

None of our party was happy with the lack of service and I/we will not be returning again.

I don't usually write reviews and I can see the owner takes each one personally as you would with your own business.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant at the moment, in fact it really was one of the worst dining experiences that I've had. I felt obliged to write having seen the very good reviews so far, but wanted others to know that this was not my experience.

The service was very very slow and many times staff looked confused or flustered, the atmosphere was probably the worst part of it - loud with the TV on (No sport on just a gameshow playing loudly in the background) within the dining area, the food looked ok but really was very poor especially for the price. There isn't a clear distinction between the bar and the restaurant which makes for a very unpleasant dining experience; as you have loud people drinking in around the restaurant area among people trying to have a nice evening dining.

I think the place may cater better to groups of friends who may want a drink from the bar/cheap food/watch sports on the television.

What may help this place is as staff improve/kitchen improve/more separation between bar and restaurant or to simply not have the TV on if there's nothing on/for there to be better organisation and management on a whole.

Absolutely gutted about the experience we had as paying customers we turned up and got stood by the door for ten minutes and then got seated after that we ordered our drinks and then ordered our starters and mains for them to bring out my sister in laws mucles for her to eat two for them to run back to tell us they wasent our mucles to then for them to take the two empty shells off the plate and take the mucels to another table for some one else when they should of taken them back and made fresh for the other customer !! Then they brought out two 16oz ribeve and they was wrong for them to then bring out the correct sirloins for my partner and sister in law and brough out a tbone for my brother in law for them three to start eating I then sat there for a further 15 minutes for them to ask me what I had ordered when I ordered a tbone the same as my brother in law to then wait a further 10 minutes for them to cook it for me while the rest of my family had eaten I was sat eating alone !! The owner was not apologetic whats so ever and her attitude was you liked the food and ate it so pay up cash or card !! I will not be going back there after that service I think she needs to some sort of lesson on how to run a business absolutely disgusting attitude towards her paying...
