We stopped here for a night as part of a long distance cycle ride. Firstly the location is beautiful on the banks of the river with great views. The pub itself is traditional and homely with slate floors and a local friendly atmosphere. We were cheerily welcomed and helped to our rooms with our bags and they even found room for our tandem bicycle!
The room with just lovey! Comfortable cosy and looking out over fields and the river. They had already reserved us a table for dinner and we settled down with some well kept pints of local ale. The food was just great as well- generous portions, freshly cooked and the curries were the standard I'd expect in an Indian restaurant-we were too full for pudding! !
What really made our stay fantastic though was that we needed an early start the next day and not only did they accommodate this but they went above and beyond at 5:30am to make sure we had a plentiful breakfast and even sandwiches for our ride that day. I cannot remember staying anywhere that has been so helpful and friendly without being overbearing but just wonderful kind people providing great service!
We will most definitely be back!! Thank...
Read moreWe live locally and went here just for a drink on the off chance it might allow our dog in.
Our dog was no problem, The drink also was no problem, but, we ended up staying longer and spending more money than just a couple of drinks.
So here goes:
The staff were really friendly and welcoming and gave the impression nothing would be too much trouble.
They had a dedicated Vegan menu and were really pleased to meet our needs without Leaving us feeling like a nuisance.
The food was really nice. It all tasted freshly made and home made at that.
We overheard the staff interacting with other customers and their approach was the same, friendly, professional and welcoming.
It was lovely to be surprised by just how nice it was and and to get a lovely meal for a very reasonable price.

Great food at excellent prices but what really stands out is the customer service. Booking a table via Sally couldn't have been easier and everyone there was lovely.
The tables in the pub are nicely spaced out so you don't feel cramped or worry that you might bump into someone's chair as you do in other overcrowded places. A traditional pub in the best sense of the word as you can sit and have a chat long after your meal has ended and enjoy the beautiful view of the River Wye.
4 of us went for Sunday Lunch and the pub looked great even on an overcast day. The lunch offerings themselves are delicious and the desserts are somehow even better. Excellent value for money considering the portion size too.
Highly recommend...
