Well, I am sorry to say but this place is an absolute disgrace and should have it's hygiene and cleanliness standards examined by the environmental health department. Prior to doing this review (having visited here earlier today), I read other reviews of horror and found one by Andrew Jenkins that showed a disgraceful disease harbouring zone among the defective panels of the gents toilet.. THAT review was done five years ago and the very same issue still exists in the toilet this day (as per one of my pics). I didn't find this out until afterwards!! We sat and ate food that was not particularly good, but edible, though the coleslaw on a vegetarian dish looked awful and that it had been in the open air for ages and the chips were cool, some cold while the salad that replaced the bun was a few odd ends of a lettuce leaf and a slice of tomato. My plate of mixed grill food was so poorly cooked that I could only eat some of the meat and kept the rest for my return home to feed the dogs. The accompanying pepper sauce was like water but my chips were hot, but over cooked like as if they had been re-cooked. The starters were not much better... mine was breaded mushrooms and a squirt of BBQ sauce.. the breaded mushrooms had been cremated to the point that I had to finger eat because the fork would not go through. My partner had the nacho starter which was a half bag of doritos with a slight hint of cheese and a salsa and sour cream sauce. With drinks, this lot came to forty-seven quid... an appalling show. While sitting there chatting about the poverty of the meal, we were distracted by other customers at the premises who, despite having children present and elderly members, were quite familiar with the use of foul language. We later spoke to a staff member who said this was a regular thing here.... made me feel that the attitudes, self respect and personal standards of social norms and acceptability have all but disappeared in Aberdare (as per my other review for the adjacent Asda store). We remained at this eating place a little longer while I took some time to take a few photos and video footage of the state of the place.... despite there being tables with places set, clearly showing that staff had the time to do this, ready for 'new' customers, there was still food, paper napkins, tomato sauce sachets and other debris scattered about the floor, while one table that had been set still had dirty cup rings (plural) where it had not been cleaned. Sadly, I am only going to include a small amount of the photos that I took, just enough for any reader to see that I am not exaggerating this review but please understand.. except for the toilet photo, the photos are of areas where the tables had been cleared and prepared for 'new' customers to be seated. And, during the whole time that we were at the premises, not one member of staff came to ask whether we were happy with our meals, whether we needed anything or otherwise. Our food was brought to the table, plonked in front of us and that was IT. The video footage on the other hand, will go to two places only... to the Brewers Fayre head office and to the Rhondda, Cynon, Taff environmental health office for...
Read moreWell, where do I start!!!! We visited yesterday, Bank Holiday Monday, 29th August. We arrived at approximately 4.30 ish, give or take a few minutes. Thought Brewers Fayre, can't go wrong- well how wrong were my husband and myself!! So, first off, drinks- husband went to the bar, came back 4 refillable glasses, straight off the bat he comments " someone needs to smile a bit more" I replied, in support of the bar lady and said" it's a bank holiday, she's probably had a long day and now wants to leave and enjoy what's left of it!" With that kids go running to play in the park outside my, we are going through what to order to eat. Our youngest has quite a bad allergy to egg and dairy- so first hurdle, what's safe for him to eat?? We ask for an allergy menu, and told " Look on the website, we haven't got one" so husbamd looks on website, but it's about as much use as a chocolate fireguard! We settle on fish bites and chips, perfect for our little boy. Our daughter wants pizza, bam! Second child sorted, I wasn't that hungry so settled for a plate of chip potatoes with cheese and bacon. Husband, well he goes in for the sharing platter. Now comes the good part - NO PIZZA . So daughter then ends up with chicken goujons and sweet potato fries. Meals come out. My daughters meal was dry, the chicken was drier than the Sahara, my sons fish was, well, fishy, mine had hair in it and my husband's- A BLOODY ANT!!!! So off he goes to have his changed by Miss Happy, then the replacement meal came out in 2 stages!!!! Not all together as ordered for- A SHARING PLATTER, but in 2 stages. My potatoes chips also smelt 'funny' so I had 3 or 4 bites and refused to eat anymore. My daughter gave up on goujon number 3, and my son didn't finish his meal as he said it tasted funny. So, that night, we were all tucked up in bed when we hear our son run to the toilet, then hubby 'had to go' in a hurry, and between them both playing tag team, I was kept awake playing nursey!!! It was not a fun evening and we will never return. The restaurant looked awful with paper napkins under the tables and cutlery. When we arrived it was far from busy too!!! The tables were sticky, and who in their right mind uses antibacterial GEL as hand soap???? Right???? !!!!!! The staff were far from helpful, in fact they were RUDE - they all could do with some extra learning in customer relations if I'm honset!!!! Think it's safe to say we WON'T ever return, and we strongly advise you to weigh up your options before going...
Read moreWe visited Brewers fayre Tirfounder fields for a pre father’s day meal on Friday June 19th, after a few seconds wait we were greeted by the friendly assistant manager and seated in an area we agreed was suitable. We placed our order at 16.35 the only starter we ordered was off the children’s menu which arrived within a few minutes, despite the place being fairly busy with at least two children’s parties. My granddaughter played in the children’s play area while we waited for mains, it’s a large area with a good sized ball pit with slides, which cost £2 for an 8 year old and was supervised by staff. There was also an outdoor play area where lots of families were sitting in the sun, while the children played on the ample facilities. The place was filling up quickly but despite this our main course was served quickly and we were asked on each course was everything ok. The meals were a good temperature and were all served together, so we were all eating at the same time. I would recommend the mixed grill which was cooked as requested. The desserts were again served quickly and again at the same time, by two staff members, they were well presented and were very nice I had the cheesecake, which I assumed would be frozen but it tasted freshly made. The toilets were very clean and fresh smelling, considering the place was by this time packed with lots of children this was pleasantly surprising there adequate toilet roll and a full soap dispenser. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful and I saw a spillage by a child being cleaned very quickly by a smiling staff member, as we were leaving the assistant manager who was clearly very busy, said goodbye and thanks us for coming, we had a very pleasant experience and...
