Deccan Grill — Restaurant in Walsall

I had the opportunity to take my extended family for lunch on the occasion of 'Father's Day'. Based on our requirement, online research and certain criteria, we shortlisted 'Bollywood Tadka' for this event.

I must confess that it was the right decision for this kind of a family event. From the moment we entered the venue and till the time we left (circa 4 hours of stay), we had nothing but extraordinary treatment and experience. We were welcomed with a great smile by the Manager and other staff members. The interiors, decor and lights were complimenting each other alongside the famous Bollywood music being played.

The food aroma raised our expectations and we were anxiously waiting for starters to be served. The staff took hardly 7-8 minutes to prepare and serve our selection. The tender mutton, chicken and fish were complemented by various chutneys (dips) and chopped onions.

This kind of a prompt service and treatment raised our expectations for the main course and I must admit that the lunch also met our 'Raised expectations' as it was not only served on time, but also the attention paid and detailing done in each dish was nothing less than extraordinary.

How can i forget to mention about the dessert which we enjoyed. It had a large variety of Indian and continental offerings. Though my favorite was Malai Kulfi, which I just could not resist and ended up eating multiple times.

Being from the hospitality industry (Aviation), I surely understand the true meaning of 'Service with a Smile' and I experienced it all here. I would like to conclude my review by thanking each staff member (especially the chef) and the Manager for making our visit memorable.

I ordered through Deliveroo, the food was warm on arrival, not piping hot. The driver brought it to me not in the insulated bag.

The food was tasty and authentic, I will review the dishes I ordered below ➡️Pani Puri- So delicious, has a slight kick and the tanginess is perfection. ➡️Butter chicken- I saw the fake review on here about there allegedly being no chicken in there, but there was so many pieces of chicken , and this dish was slightly sweeter, which is nice as it is butter chicken after all. It was nice and creamy. ➡️Garlic Chicken Curry (hot)- The flavours of this dish was delicious, you could definitely taste the garlic, it wasn’t overpowering and I liked the chunks of garlic as opposed to finely chopping the garlic. Again, very generous amount of chicken pieces in this curry aswell. Although I did hope the curry would have lived up to the ‘hot’ part. But I do understand you may do this to protect other customers who will then complain about the food being too spicy, but a customisable spice level would be great! ➡️Steamed rice- Standard rice, fluffy, although I hoped the portion would have been bigger. ➡️Garlic naan- Again, I thought this would be bigger, but it was fairly small. I definitely feel that it would be useful to include images of the dishes on the delivery company apps, so customers are able to buy accordingly and know how much will be enough to feed their family. ➡️Papadams- These were standard plain papadams, I got the following chutneys which were very tasty and I enjoyed: Mint, mango, tamarind and onion.

We gave them a go for English Breakfast Sunday 9th June. We waited 25 mins for the coffee to come to the table. We waited a further 45mins for the breakfast to start coming out. I say start coming out as a plate came out with items missing and the missing items came out on separate side plates eventually. The food was cold. The restaurant did offer the breakfasts for free. They said they had issues with burners keep going out. The Just Eat driver fell asleep waiting for his pick up too so someone had a late cold breakfast that day.

As the situation was dealt with appropriately and these things can happen we gave them another go today 23 June for breakfast we arrived at 8:10am. They open for customers at 8am, but when we arrived they were still tidying up from the previous nights party. They still hadn't finished that job when we left and looked very unprofessional and mucky with only half the restaurant cleaned. The breakfast came out in 30mins which is acceptable, but we also had to wait that long for the coffee too. A poached egg was asked for on one breakfast (it is an item on the menu as poached egg on toast). It came out fried. Halfway through eating the breakfast was told poached egg not possible.
