Alexander Express — Restaurant in Watford

We ordered a mixed grill and halloumi sandwich, when the order arrived the halloumi sandwich was not there but there was a portion of halloumi. I called the takeaway and they sent a halloumi sandwich but asked that we give the halloumi portion back. My wife was hungry and had already eaten one piece when I called the takeaway but after that we didn’t eat anymore. I thought it was strange they wanted the food back, when they messed up the order in the first place. They then called me to say I was “cheap” after returning the halloumi with one piece missing. They didn’t seem to understand that their mistake meant we could not eat together and we had to wait for the correct food to arrive. I hope they didn’t just reheat the halloumi and serve to anyone else. Any ordinary takeaway would have just accepted they got the order wrong and not request the food back. Awful service. The order placed at 7:54 was said to be delivered at 8:32 and I called at 8:50 asking where it was to which the man told me it was going to be 15-20 minutes more and that I should have called them because they’re busy and then they would have told me an exact time which is utterly ridiculous because the email straight up says ‘delivery time: 8:32’. If you cannot give food to people don’t take the orders simple as, you just lose a customer by doing this sort of thing. If they said sorry no we are too busy initially Or if they were honest when I called first I would have just cancelled then and been less annoyed. But I will not order again. Been here a couple of times as its on our way home. Food and service was ok. The last time however, asked for a lamb shawarma with sauce and salad seperate. Was told sauces were already in the kebab and and extra tub would cost £1. Got home to discover no chilli sauce and very very little garlic sauce. Phoned to complain and they didn't care, the reply was' thats how it is' ! no sorry nothing. Every kebab shop ive been to give a tub of chilli sauce for free but they tried charging me and assured me my kebab had some in it.
