Sushi Jun — Restaurant in Waverley

After going to this restaurant a year ago, and having a great experience, sadly this time around was a little more disappointing. Went for a dinner date, with my partner after hyping the place up since I last went. I appreciate that the restaurant is popular but service was slow and we often felt forgotten as others around us were served. Due to how full the restaurant was, we were sat at the bar. Me and my partner felt as though people would have to squeeze past us to get to other tables/customers. We ordered 3 small dishes and 2 mains. Our first plate of food came out cold, though very tasty - the server removed it from the bill due to the complaint, which I was grateful for. Our mains then followed after another 10 minutes. Thankfully everything else was hot but our food came out in a stange order, with our last small dish coming out another 10 minutes after we’d finished eating the rest of our food - this was said to be due to a kitchen backlog, but other tables were quickly receiving food and this dish was the smallest dish we’d ordered…

Disappointing. Enjoyable, but disappointing. Maybe next time we will try to book well in advance and for lunch instead, as we have attempted to book a week prior before but always seem to be offered the bar, which doesn’t offer a lot...

normally don’t leave bad reviews but i do feel the need to say something. came in on a quiet wednesday night with my partner, asked the waitress for a taste of their plum wine and was given a medium glass, neither of us particularly liked it but were then stuck with that and a beer. my partner asked the waitress for some help when it came to ordering and for some advice and we were met with an “i don’t know” and then she walked off. the second waitress was helpful but still not very interested. we felt quiet uncomfortable. portions were small and not very tasteful, paid £75 for three drinks and about 4 dishes, which isn’t too bad but we left very hungry and ended up going to another restaurant for food. maybe with a larger group it would have been better but for the two of us the staff just felt awkward and the entire place felt uncomfortable. no check backs were done and we waited 30 mins after finishing eating for staff to come to our table to give us the bill. probably wouldn’t go again...

Tried to make a booking, but no tables available. We we're offered seats at the bar, which was absolutely fine. When we arrived they said no space at the bar! After some polite exchanges and showing our booking conversation (via text), they decided to make some space for us at the bar. There was plenty of space anyway, so not sure what the problem was! Food quality was good. However, service was extremely slow. The dishes (all mains) were served one by one.... very slowly. About 10-20 minutes between each dish! We expected them to be served more-or-less together. A lot of waiting in-between dishes!

When the bill arrived, it was about double the price😱. It includes additional dishes and drinks that we hadn't ordered. They apologised and corrected the bill, but still charged service charge (though admittedly we could have ask for it to be removed).

It was a Saturday night, so potentially busier than usual. We may give it another try, but jury's...
