⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently dined at The Don in Welwyn Garden City, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The restaurant offers a warm and inviting ambiance, perfect for a relaxing evening out. The service was exceptional; the staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. To start, we enjoyed an appetizer of papadoms and sundries, which were fresh and flavorful, providing a perfect balance of crunch and taste. For the main course, I opted for the jalfrezi with pilau rice. The dish was a delightful explosion of flavors, with just the right amount of heat and spice. The vegetables were cooked to perfection, and the pilau rice complemented the dish beautifully. My wife chose the chicken korma, and she was thoroughly impressed. The korma was subtly spiced, rich, and creamy, with tender pieces of chicken that melted in the mouth. It was a perfect choice for someone who enjoys milder dishes. Overall, our experience at The Don was fantastic. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was impeccable. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an excellent Indian dining experience in Welwyn Garden City.

The reason for my lower rating is due to the fact that none of the staff had on masks to protect others, and when a table left, they did not sanitize it at all before seating a new group. The food was not bad, the waiters were polite and friendly and we had good service. As someone who wanted to help them out as a business, but was conscious of the fact that there are guidelines that restaurants should be following to prevent the spread of Covid-19, I feel like more should have been done to ensure the safety of the guests and staff.

We went on a quiet week night so it felt like we were VIPs, very professional and kind staff, can adapt the menu to suit your dietary needs including allergies or vegan. Really reasonable prices for the quality of food and service. Everything was really flavourful, I can't wait to go back!

I shared a review a couple of months ago about friendly caring service. This no longer applies. I called in to order for delivery order was taken over phone and I was told it would take 1 hour and 10 minutes. This was fine. However when the order arrived we were told cash only. I was not told this when ordering neither was this stated on the website. I called through to explain and was put through to the manager. I asked if they could take card payment and he said no cash only for delivery. I explained that when I placed the order I wasn't made aware and that I was unable to drive to come and pay as I had had a few drinks. I asked if I would be able to make payment the following day and apologised. I was then rudely spoken to by the manager. He said this is difficult to do in a busy time and next time if I didn't have cash I should go somewhere else. Shocking for we have been customers for over eight years. Needless to say that I will no longer be ordering from The Don, they obviously don't need...

thought we’d try here as heard good reviews from others. met with poor service, no “hello” upon arrival just a nod and taken to our seat. felt quite judged and ignored throughout the whole meal. when giving plates out for our meal, we were not told they were hot and it hurt our fingers (not all plates are hot but these were definitely put in a heater of some sort), which we thought was very unprofessional. when asking to pay, they were very quick to take the plates away and wipe the table down whilst we were still sat there!!! the food was ok, but definitely won’t be returning when service is awful. i’d rather have semi-okay food but brilliant service than go somewhere where i did not...
