Lynwood & Co Carterton — Restaurant in West Oxfordshire

Great coffee and food, been to this please a lot in past 2 years as it was one of my favourite. Recently when they changed their stuff completely (after lockdown) - service got worse. Once I’ve been served food but no coffee for 15min as they just forgot to make it. Another time girl behind the bar was trying to make a latte but couldn’t do it so she asked for help another bartender who was busy chatting to his mate outside, and then he didn’t even tried to hold the door for me, I had some bags and a dog plus coffee, he was literally 2sec before me (he was so desperate to come back and chat to his mate during work time). This would never happen before. Although they stop serving food at 3pm, however it depends who’s behind the bar, cos sometimes you won’t get food at 2:45pm even. Popped in for breakfast. When ordering was told it would be a 20 min wait, it turned out to be 40 for just a bacon sandwich and scrambled egg, sausage and mushrooms on toast. Food is brought out plate by plate meaning others are left waiting on the table for their own to be served. The place was freezing, so cold we had to wear our coats. The food was disappointing, especially after the wait. The bacon hadn't been drained so the bread was swimming in fat. The sausages were over cooked, dry and inedible .The butter tasted like a cheap margarine which is odd when the other ingredients do appear to be of a good quality but seem to have been ruined by over cooking. A very modern and tidy local cafe for the community of Carterton, very reasonably priced breakfast items and a large range of coffee and smoothie options!

Both ladies that run this place have a very friendly and enthusiastic vibe! I got myself on this occasion a bacon and sausage sandwich (with an added fried egg) on sourdough bread! It was delightful and next time i come back i may just try the avocado and feta on sourdough toast!

They also have their own brand of coffee, jams, oats and bread you can purchase inside. Also a very dog friendly place as locals brought all their puppers in!
