This was our first visit to Primrose Farm, where I met two old friends. We ordered carvery meals and hot drinks. Unfortunately, one of my friends had her order taken incorrectly at the bar and was overcharged. She had to wait around 10 minutes for a refund, which was disappointing.
When we went to the carvery section, we each helped ourselves to some meat and vegetables. Since all the carvery restaurants in Warrington (where I live) allow customers to return for more vegetables, we didn't take much on our first visit. However, when I returned to the counter for more vegetables, the chef told me I was not allowed to have a second serving. I was very surprised by this, and his tone was short-tempered and unfriendly.
One of my friends spoke to a staff member about the situation. The staff member apologized and consulted with the supervisor, who kindly authorized us to take more vegetables since it was our first visit and we were unaware of the policy.
When I returned to the counter to get some mashed potatoes (all I wanted), another staff member stormed over to me and shouted, “You are not allowed to come back for a second time.” I tried to explain that the supervisor had given me permission, but she screamed at me, “I am the manager, and I said NO.”
I was embarrassed and shocked by how I was treated. The staff at Primrose Farm came across as extremely hostile, and the experience completely ruined our lunch. Is this really the way customers should be treated?
While the food itself was not bad, the customer service—particularly the attitude of the management—was shockingly disgraceful. It’s such a shame because the restaurant itself was lovely, but the poor treatment we experienced completely...
Read moreMy husband and I have just visited Primrose Farm carvery for the first time. I am vegan, so I eat a plant-based diet. I asked which of their carvery foods are vegan-friendly, and they confirmed that the roast potatoes, carrots, red cabbage, stuffing, and gravy, are all vegan.
A special thank you to Kelly. She was so friendly and helpful. Without me asking for anything, she offered to provide me with some skin-on new potatoes, as they had some out that had a dairy glaze. Kelly also offered to provide some cauliflower as the dish they had out was in a dairy-based cream. She advised that prior to my next visit, I should give them a call, and they will make up vegan options of whatever they have out. Fantastic.
Kelly also told me about the vegan desserts they have on offer, which is always delightful to my ears.
We felt very welcome, and like nothing was too much trouble. All of the staff that we encountered were very friendly, and that can often be the difference between returning to an eatery, or not.
Pleasant staff. Tasty food. Plant-based desserts. We will definitely be returning for a...
Read moreFresh food! Insane portions. Diverse menu. High value for money. Too good to be true? It almost always is, except for Primrose Farm. If you are going out to eat with one, with a group or with kids this is a MUST visit place.
The environment is calm, the food is really fresh and the Sunday roast is perfect for any day of the week, you will live the Yorkshire pudding, make sure to double up. There is also really nice and ample space to sit and eat outside. In most big pubs like this there is a sacrifice made with service. You expect it and on a Saturday night at 7:00pm it is peak time. But the service is here was incredible.
Mark was one of the servers and he went above and beyond to ensure that we had all we wanted and needed, checking to see if there was any way he could serve, give this man a raise!!
The staff all seemed happy to be here, like they were taken care of and return the customers are all taken care of.
This will not a be a regular place for us and we could not recommend it highly enough!
PS try the GIGANTIC cake and if eating in ask for custard and they will sort you...
