Came in on a Saturday, looked busy outside went in and there was a queue to the bar, looked around loads of empty tables so we helped ourselves to a table after checking to see if there was any reserved signs which there wasn't, so ordered food and drinks gave table no with no issues, was waiting for our food and noticed staff setting some tables together so thought hmm must be a large group arriving, then a member of staff came over and was quizzing us on whether we had helped ourselves to a table which we said we did as no one was around and we had checked to see if any were reserved which they wasn't, she said well this table your at is, she then said I'll check if there's anymore, at which point our food arrived so sat there thinking are we being moved or what!! Anyway we thought sod it and ate our food, I then heard the member of staff talking to someone on another table asking them similar, she then went and spoke with someone else who had sat at a table and she was basically talking about us,she said to them that should be your table saying I wish people would read the sign, so she was calling us and blaming us, we never said anything finished our meal, left the table as we thought someone was waiting for it, went to the bar got a drink went and sat outside, finished drink and my wife went to the toilet and noticed no one had been seated at the table we was at, or at the table of the other party that she had spoken to either, so to sum it up she made a fuss over nothing due to what I can only think is down to her not managing the reservations by putting reserve signs on the tables, I did notice that 2 of the small tables near to the bar left of entrance had then had reserved notices put on them, so they do use them, so she messed up, tried to redeem herself by blaming us for her not doing her job correctly in the first place, she then pissed us off by talking to other customers about us saying we should of read the sign, poor service from this particular member of staff who may benefit from retraining and maybe having better manners when dealing with customers, food was OK beer was OK atmosphere busy, all let down by this lady member of staff, if a mistake is made then admit it learn from it and move on don't ever talk about other people to customers, you messed up learn from it, cause all you did was highlight your failings and made yourself look foolish, we left feeling dismayed at the...
Read moreI visited last night with my wife and son and my wifes parents and sister. The meal was fine, the service was fine, the pub was clean, everything was in place for it to be a safe environment. What spoilt the entire evening for me was the table of 5 grown men who weren't there to dine or watch the football, they were just drinking and shouting at each other when they were only sat 0,5m away from each other. They had no regard for the rest of the people in the room, and from looking around to gauge the other peoples opinion, they were not impressed either, and they too were having their evenings spoiled but this group of neanderthals that should have been situated in a drink only section of the pub. A customer did mention to a feamle member of staff that the rabble that they were causing a disturbance with their vociferous conversations, litterered with foul language but when she mentioned it to them that they may like to tone it doen a bit in terms of volume and obscenities they asked who it was and set about calling across the room to a family who were trying to enjoy their meal, one of the cavemen even went over and sat himself at their table, no mask, and formed another bubble, while his friends cotinued their party without him, e-cigs and all, despite only being a few feet from the bar, none of the staff picked up on the white cloud of vapour coming from their table. The behaviour of clowns like this are the reason that pubs and restaurants will die out, there isn't much to do in terms of socialising at the moment and the restrictions we are forced to live will go on for longer, just as long as people are allowed to...
Read moreVisited here on Saturday evening (22 July 2017) with my lovely lady. Having been numerous times before with it being so close to home, I had always managed to avoid it at it's busiest. On this occasion we didn't.
Nevertheless, we got on with things and I got the drinks in. Then, after much perusal of the menu we decided what to have and placed our order. The staff were all friendly enough and the wait for our starter wasn't long. The wait for our main was longer but to be expected.
Being a fan of steak but never having tried Rib Eye (more a Sirloin and Rump man myself), I decided to give it a go. I went for the signature double dipped rib-eye meal, which included all manner of extras such as sauces, chips with Jalapeños, onions, mushrooms and a side of Mac and cheese. My partner went for the 10oz variety.
Both meals looked great when they turned up but it turned out that my steak was much fattier than I had anticipated. This was a shame as it tasted fantastic. The meals were well presented and the portions very generous. Apart from some of the aforementioned steak, I ate the rest with much gusto. Very tasty.
We decided to skip dessert on this occasion as there wasn't much choice.
Overall this place is good and understandably popular. I would probably avoid at really busy times in future and maybe opt for a different steak, but for what it is it's largely good value...
