Subway — Restaurant in Wigan

This was a great place but is now an unpleasant experience. The USP was its warm friendly staff and ability to easily and quickly order exactly what you want and see it made fresh in front of you. The new compulsory touch screen ordering system destroys all of this good stuff, you don’t receive a human welcome, you cannot customise your food how you want it beyond some very limited pre programmed options and it takes much longer time from a customer perspective. I personally love self serve system in most cases, I do it in supermarkets and McDonald’s etc and it works well because you just want standard items so you can type it in quickly and easily. In Subway though self serve screen just doesn’t work due to the volume of individual customisations you have to manually type in. I very much doubt the minor staff time savings that can be achieved through this new approach compensate for the significant damage to the customer experience and hopefully management will realise this quickly and be smart enough to restore the previous customer...

1st and last visit… what a rip off… Appreciate that prices vary but £9.59 for a foot long meal deal.. priced at £9.29 on menu, when challenged advised I’d got a large drink… didn’t ask for that at all 2/3 scoop of tuna rather than a full scoop, minimal salad added… Can’t say the sandwich artiste ( use than term loosely) was rude but definite language barrier. Guess it’s a franchise and the rent n rates are high at Parr Bridge, Starbucks is equally more expensive that some of its City centre branches. Sorry Subway but you’ve ripped me off and won’t get another penny.

Greggs will no doubt do a roaring trade when people start to compare prices

Food was ok, but ...

New touch screen ordering system out in place. Waiting time has now at least doubled, you can’t see your sandwiches being made which is one of the perks of subway, (knowing it’s fresh), and can’t personalise the food the same. Also touch screens mean dirtying hands before eating, find it an unhygienic way of ordering, so much easier just asking for your sandwich. Parr bridge is normally quite clean and staff are friendly but not waiting 20 minutes again, will find another subway...
