Last night (26 August 2025) I went to the Farmhouse with my son. I had been there 10 days previously. A carvery is always a great option. Now I am a 66 year old disabled military veteran who uses a service dog. Buddy my dog is my guardian and a life saver. The first visit as I stepped into the restaurant what turned out to be the duty manager shouted across the restaurant "tell him no dogs allowed " the staff member politely told me. Sorry sir no dogs allowed. I asked him to get the manager. He replied "that is the manager" Then I would like to talk to her. He nicely asked me why and I told him my dog is a service dog and by law You can't stop him from coming in. He shouted to her " it is a service dog" He wears a harness with Service Dog clearly written on it, neither had noticed or bothered to look. She came across and apologised and found us a table and was very attentive to my needs. I asked him if I could give her some in put rather than an outburst on the law and suggested that if she had been trained to say " We happily invite service dogs into our restaurant but if it isn't I'm really sorry We can't allow them in" bit less embarrassing than shouting across a restaurant that dogs were not allowed. So I thought that a visit last night would be easy. Before I even got the door open properly I was loudly told no dogs allowed so you will have to eat in the garden. We'll I wasn't surprised but actually I was seeing I had visited before. Now this woman "Bethany" upon being told that my dog was a service dog (same harness) became quite belligerent demanding that I show here proof. Of course I have proof but suggested that under the law demanding that she see proof was actually an offence. 2010 Equality Act. Human Rights etc. She became more belligerent. In the first case the manager was happy to learn in the later her attitude was so negative and confrontational and talked down to me like I was a 5 year old with learning difficulties so I apologised to my son and we left. Now this is obviously a training issue and not my first problem because people seldom understand hidden disabilities and that not all service dogs are guide dogs for the blind. But bad attitude is bad attitude and there is no excuse. We will not return ever. On my first visit the food was great. But the service poor. I came back because on my first visit I was too full to eat the amazing cakes. It was also a re-visit to a place my then very young son loved. What a shame. I hope the management read this and think about training their staff. Disability access is not just ramps and wide doors. Many of us don't need them. However we would like people to perhaps understand our needs or at least listen as we explain what we need and certainly not be humiliated by being asked to prove that we are disabled. A real shame but not a great loss.

My partner visited Applewood a couple of weeks ago with her friend. They both really enjoyed the carvery. So much so that my partner persuaded me to go. Pubs are not my normal places to visit for food, and to be honest, I can't remember the last time I ate in a pub. We visited on a weekday lunchtime so and there were plenty of tables to choose from. Once we had sat at our selected table, I went to the bar to order food and drinks. They had one person taking the orders and payments, as well as serving you your drinks. There were five people in front of me. Luckily, another member of staff came over to help with taking order to speed things up. I ordered a small and standard carvery and a medium and large red wine. The staff member who was serving me informed me it was cheaper to buy the bottle than it was to buy the two glasses of wine. In my opinion that is very good customer service. He brought the bottle and glasses to me at the bar and gave me the cork to the bottle so we could take the bottle away with us if we hadn't finished it. The wine was called Big Earl, and it was very nice. We would both definitely have that wine again. We both had Turkey and the Beef from the carvery. Both were very good. However, you do not get a lot. Based on the price we paid, I suppose we can't really complain. There are plenty of potatoes and veggies that were cooked for us just right. They weren't too hard and not too soft. Different gravies and sauces to finish off the meal were very nice. The place was clean and the staff we interacted with were very polite and friendly. They also take the Blue Light Card. We will visit again and probably try food from the menu next time.

We decided to visit after receiving a voucher for a free slice of cake when you dine in as part of a promotion for their reopening. The Farmhouse Kitchen Worsley is lovely and welcoming. Very well laid out, clean and bright inside. The staff are also nice and friendly. It wasn't very busy on a Friday night so getting a table for 2 was very easy. You can order via the Greene King app or at the till which is very convenient. If you order carvery someone will come over and let you know when you can go up for food, which is a good way to avoid long queues. The carvery is pretty standard and what I was expecting for £8.99 (standard plate). The turkey and beef I got were actually quite nice and moist, but unfortunately the Yorkshire pudding and other sides let down the overall food experience. They were a bit bland and dried out, which makes sense as they probably sit out under the heat lamp for a while. Still, I'd probably come back to try other things on the menu, considering the prices are decent all round.

At £65 per person for Christmas Day meal, we were expecting better than the disorganised shambles we received. We arrived at our booked time to find people queueing out of the door. Trying to book in was chaotic and there was a delay. Once shown to our table we were advised that our starters would be straight out seeing as we had pre-ordered. One hour and three enquiries made to staff later we still hadn't received our starters. There was a one year old within our party who was getting cranky by this point. Only when my daughter wandered off and found a senior member of staff to complain to did we get something to eat. (The food, once it came, was delicious. Well done to the kitchen staff). We then had another long wait for our table to be cleared before we could join the queue for our main course (this being a carvery restaurant). We knew we would have to queue when we booked. What we didn't know is that we would be queuing behind walk-ins who were taking a carvery away with them! The wait was ridiculous. If you charge £65 for a carvery you should have separate queues for those eating in and those taking away. With us having a baby with us a couple of us had waited at the table with baby whilst everyone else went for their food; we then went for ours when they got back to the table. Our queue time was so long that everyone in our party had finished eating by the time we got back to the table with our meals. Happy Family Christmas!! Having experienced an hour long wait for offer starters I asked for our desserts to be brought as soon as we sat down to eat our mains. Naively I thought they'd be brought out just as we were finishing our main course. Naively I thought the waiting staff cared that customers had a positive eating experience. Wrong!! After another long wait for table to be cleared and dessert to be brought we gave up. I went in search of someone to ask could we get desserts boxed up to take away. At this point I was advised there was a delay and I would have to wait. At this point, losing patience and wondering just how long we were to wait, (having already waited an hour for starters and half an hour for dessert, with a twenty minute queue at the carvery in between), we gave up and left. The food was delicious. The service (I use this term very loosely as there wasn't any) was horrendous. At least three staff had ignored our query about the long wait for starters; two ignored our queries about the whereabouts of dessert. Nobody came to our table to ask that everything was okay, did we need anything, or just to show their presence. Tables around us were having similar experiences. Families were leaving without their deserts. At £65 for 3 courses and coffee, you expect better. You expect staff to give a hoot that you have a positive experience. We unfortunately did not get this. We got long waits and huge disappointment. I would not recommend and would in fact discourage anyone from booking for special occasions in the future - a shame because the food - when you're lucky enough to get it -...

I ate here tonight for the first time since the refurb. I was really disappointed with the food and the service. The restaurant wasn't too busy. We were sat on the section of tables opposite the bar, and I felt there were too many tables in this space, as the people on the table behind me were too close to us, as there wasn't really enough space for staff to walk between the tables.

Two of our party had a carvery, and the third had a pie. The carvery was really disappointing. I asked for turkey, and a new one was brought out, and the bits of meat I did get were all skin, so would have probably been better with a meatless one. The Yorkshire puddings were dried out and were really difficult to eat. The roast potatoes weren't cooked through and were rock hard (and never are to be honest I find when I come to these places). The veg was all dried out and tasteless, and when I got to the gravy station, there was barely any left, so this can't be being checked regularly. The pastry on the pie was dry, and the jug of gravy was not nearly enough to help even this out.

After finishing our meal, it took 30 minutes for a member of staff to clear our plates, even though other tables around us finished after us and were cleared before ours. The table was only cleared of plates when our desserts were brought out, not leaving enough room on the table for our desserts. The ice cream sundaes we ordered came out poorly presented and there was more ice cream on the outside of the sundae bowl than there was inside it. I ordered a brownie, this came out with custard first even though it had been ordered with ice cream, the brownie was also so burnt that I felt like it was going to break my teeth. I was not able to bring this to the attention of a member staff, as there were none around to flag down for help.

I've been very disappointed by this visit, and don't think I'll be rushing back to...
