The Old Bank — Restaurant in Wigan

One of the worst brunch experiences I’ve had! We were told a 45 minute wait for food which we accepted and were happy to wait, but when 50 minutes had passed and the staff had not updated us, we went to ask for an update to be told another 10 mins, which turns into 25 mins. By this point we had ordered 11.30am and it was 12.45pm and we had a train to catch unfortunately. Bearing in mind when we asked how much longer after the 50 minute wait the staff were aware we needed to leave in half an hour. The place was not busy and we were not given any reasonable explanation as to why the wait was so ridiculously long, in the end we asked for a refund and left. The staff apologised but provided no explanation or reason given which I don’t think is acceptable at all. I’m not one to usually write a review or moan but I can’t quite believe what happened! We had only ordered avocado/salmon/eggs on toast and we were a table of 2. It’s a shame as I’m sure it would...

Just called in for a quick stop and had a great experience. The service was friendly, the coffee was good and the basic bagel 🥯 I had was perfect and very well buttered 😁 The other breakfast items people were eating looked delicious 😋 also It's a shame they didn't do pastries although they did have carrot cake but it was too early for that. In the evening this place opens as a wine bar/bar and had a selection of tap beers but quite expensive £6.45pint and they didn't have a new Zealand Sauvignon Blanc but a SA or Chile Anyway it looks a good place to spend time and hopefully I'll come back to test out those...

Surprisingly poor service today. When food delivered, it was not as requested, slight mix-up which we adjusted ourselves. While server still at the table we requested another coffee. The waitress returned with a card machine but as we were eating and had greasy hands (toasted sandwich) we asked if we would pay later (as we have done on many occasions), this did not appear to be a problem. As the coffee hadn't been delivered after 10-15 minutes, we went to the counter and found out it they were waiting for payment to be made before delivery, would have been nice to have been...
