Although this looks like a fairly normal caff from the outside, it's got quite a nice interior with a mix of chairs and high-backed bench seating. The tables are spaced well enough to be roomy between diners, which is often something overlooked in small cafés.
I ate alone and had the full English and a tea. HP sauce and Heinz ketchup on the tables, which I thought was a good touch.
The breakfast was of a good standard, both in terms of quality and quantity for the money. £11 got me two fried eggs, two sausages, two bacon, two hash browns, mushrooms, beans and a slice of toast. If the meat elements had been the usual greasy spoon quality, this would have been a bit on the pricey side, but the bacon was thick and nicely cooked and the sausages were high pork content. It was also nice to see a large portion of beans!
My eggs were cooked to perfection - a lovely runny yolk without having uncooked white.
Even the mushrooms - which I don't normally bother with - were tasty without being slimy.
The minor hitch I had was that the hash browns hadn't quite been cooked long enough and were still frozen inside - now matter, the friendly waitress just swapped them for some freshly cooked ones, which came about half way through my meal. I wouldn't even knock a star off for this, as they dealt with it so well.
I ordered a side of fried bread, which was cooked just how I like it - crispy on the outside and soft in the middle - but it came with a butter portion, which I thought odd!
A scalding hot cup of tea (including a Lotus biscuit) washed it all down nicely.
Oh, and free WiFi (in an area that has terrible Vodafone signal) helped the experience.
The only real downside - and it's hard for the café owners to do much about this - was that two of the other customers decided that 9am on a Sunday in a café is the perfect time and place to have loud mobile phone...

Spacious cafe, with drinks that are worth every penny. My favourites are the chai latte 😋 and Oreo milkshake! 🧋Kids mini ice-creams with a choice of toppings, go down well with my 5 year old.
Food is also reasonable, I enjoyed my veggie breakfast. 🍳
Staff are very accommodating and friendly. They got me a bowl of warm water to keep my newborn’s milk bottle warm. 🍼Ample room for big buggies and a clean toilet with baby changing facilities.
Great local cafe for families, opposite a Waitrose, Boots and Costa. Bonus: next to a park! We often grab ice-creams and shakes and head to the park after school. Decor a little cream, but the service is...
Read moreOn recommendation we went for breakfast at Café Bartella this morning. Lots of choice on the menu and a lovely clean, well presented café. My youngest cannot have wheat and gluten, therefore she was able to do a create your own plate, which is on the menu: Chips, avocado, egg and bacon, she loved it and the chips were cooked in very tasty clean oil. I had smashed avocade and egg on sour dough. And the other two meals were a traditional breakfast and an all day breakfast . The girls ordered a smoothie each and my husband and I a Coffee. The coffee was really nice. I would highly recommend paying Café...
