It’s the first day of the school holidays and I went in Insimnia Cafe with my son. He began playing with two other children. He was running so I warned him about people carrying hot drinks so he began just walking. Of course it’s not my place to say this to children who aren’t mine so those two carried on running. The other children started squealing so the assistant came to me saying “There’s a woman there on the phone so…” I said it’s not my child squealing so she responds with “yeah but they egg each other on”. So I’m expected to take responsibility for other kids apparently? I said it’s a public place and the school holidays so she can move if a cafe is too noisy for her. Funny thing was, I could see the woman the assistant was referring to and she didn’t even glance away from her laptop, let alone complain, so I believe it was just the lady working there with a problem.
So I would suggest that this cafe is not child friendly, despite there being a chalk board and another children’s activity which encourages them out of their seat - which is all my child was guilty of. We left after being spoken to.
It’s a shame because the cafe is very well presented and spotless. It is always quiet and I know they have worked very hard to increase foot flow. But I need a child friendly venue - especially for excited children at Christmas during the...
Read moreIt's a nice place! Good open space and concept. I like the fair trade focus. It's fairly pricey especially for cakes. You'll part with about £3.20 for a slice of banana loaf. The drink pricing seems to be high for small sizes but not much more for large sizes. The most disappointing thing was there was no savoury food left at late lunchtime as per the pic. There was a small mistake with the order but staff were nice 🙂. Coffee is very good here. There are vegan and gluten free...
Read moreInsomnia was a lovely establishment to do some work in, the decorations added to the cozy atmosphere and the seats remained comfortable even after being there for over 6 hours! The staff was especially inviting as they always offered a smile, like Phoebe did :) The food was also lovely, I had a delicious cheese toastie and a wonderfully made drink, albeit the prices seem a little high (The toastie was £4.95 and the Mocha was £3.20) but for a treat it was an...
