Had received a voucher for a presant.. Went with my wife brother and his wife for Sunday lunch.. Booked a table as we thought it would be very busy.. We arrived and a very attentive young man showed us to our table.. We could have chosen anyone.. As only one other table was occupied. We where offered 2 menus unfortunately there where many starters off so we went straight on to mains.. The roast beef was delicious as was the pea and mushroom tagatelli the bun on the house burger was burnt as was the added bacon.. It would have been a 4 star at this stage... Desserts again a few off... raspberry roulade so they offered a strawberry Eaton mess 3 came looking very like angel delight with a chopped up strawberry on top disappointing. The cheeseboard platter came with no blue cheese on or grapes as advertised and butter on the crackers. When asked for the Shropshire blue my wife was offered blue cheese boms .... Not something we would even try again... Meanwhile during the main one of our party needed to use the accessible toilets had to wait while an able bodied member of staff.. Was using it.. Meaning there main was cold by the time they got back... We where not offered any reduction on our bill even though we where charged for desserts and cheeseboard we never received... A very expensive lunch for four even with our £50 presant .....
Read moreWe have been several times to the Monty and I can't fault the service we received. I love the atmosphere and decor of this pub. We went last night as they had a 40% off promotion. I had the mixed grill for main and hubby had the rib eye steak. The steak was very nice. Not sure about the peppercorn sauce that went with it, very watery with hard whole peppercorns. We have had it before and it was fabulous, creamy and smoother. My main dissapoitment was with my desert. I can honestly say it was the worse pavlova I have ever had. I am gluten free so I tend to have this desert quite often when we go out. it was just two hard rounds of merangue with over whipped cream sandwiches between them and a sour berry compote which tasted just like cranberry sauce poured over the top. I was expecting the mixed berries to be fresh. Pavlova is meant to be a light desert!! ! I. It's not a difficult desert to do. Just keep it simple. Mirangue, whipped cream, fresh fruit, that's all you need. I can see that there has been another disappointing review about this desert. This is the second dissapointing pudding I have had there. Not sure if we will go back again anytime soon. Will prob just stick to the mains and skip deserts. I did complain about the desert and sent it back. They did take it...
Read moreAwful Awful Awful. Don't think they'd argue with that with hand on heart. Waited well over an hour for food 3 out of 5 meals wrong, other 2 horrible. Don't get me wrong the other 3 were awful too as well as wrong. Asked us if we wanted another drink then tried to weasel out when we said we did but an hour and 20,and counting didn't want to pay for it. The food: warm coleslaw under lights while they figured out how to get a 'half pound burger' to shrink to about two inches across. Tomato sauce with pasta that had never seen a tomato, Dry pork, a sloppy oily felafel burger, hair in the chips(which were nice up to that point) and no cheese on a cheeseburger. Poor serving staff bringing out this rubbish.
Apparently under new management. This I can believe as daughter and partner been going for years and this was the night we took them up on the invite. At least we will never have to go back again. Cut bill in half, apologised and came up with wine to be fair to them. Give it a few months, read newer reviews. Who knows. Never...
