Very disappointing for so many reasons. My daughter asked if she could celebrate taking her last A level exam at Pesto Dibbinsdale, since we had taken her there on the day that she took her 11 plus exam, some 9 years earlier. We thought it would be extra special if we could sit at the same table at we had before, so my wife made a special effort to visit the restaurant a few days before, to explain the reason we wanted a particular table. She was told that the layout had changed, and our previous table of 4 places, had been replaced by a table for six. However, she was told that if not booked out, we could use it. We arrived at 5.00pm on Monday, and after sitting at the table we had requested, a person (presumably the manager) told us that we would have to sit at another table because the table of six was booked out. I would like to add, that being Monday at 5.00pm (probably one of the quietest times of any restaurant), the restaurant was deadly quiet and there were other table of six places available if by chance they had a surge of guests requiring large tables. We stayed until 6.30pm, and noticed that the restaurant remained quite and both tables of six places by us remained unused. We feel really let down by this - they could of made our celebration perfect just by allowing us to sit at the table we had prearranged a few days earlier. We live in North Wales, and had made a special effort to visit the restaurant a few days before to specifically request the table we had sat at some 9 years earlier. It seems to us that they just wanted to keep the tables of six open in case a large group came in - we don’t believe what the manager told us that the tables were booked out as they restaurant was very quite when we left at 6.30pm on a Monday! The overall experience was not good, with the server telling us that the normal menus (where you pick 3 dishes from a set list for a set price) were not available, but when we challenged this, he forgot it was a Monday and thought it was a Sunday when those menus are not available. My wife’s wine and daughters lemonade which were ordered when we were seated, eventually arrived at the end of our main meals, despite asking multiple times. To cap it all £4.80 for a glass of lemonade/coke! We had 3 soft drinks which added nearly £15 to the bill. We are loyal visits to Pesto restaurants, but probably won’t visit the Dibbinsdale again. We have always had excellent experiences at their Yacht restaurant near aTwo Mills. Such a shame they didn’t look after us on such a momentous occasion of my daughter completing her last A level just a few...
Read moreTonight was our second visit to pesto and I'm afraid to say I was extremely disappointed. After our first visit was so impressive we decided to book again for valentines but were extremely let down. Firstly we were the only table in our area that didn't get offered any garlic bread, olives or bread and oils for starters which was rather strange. Most of the food was satisfactory but I ordered the chicken that was supposed to be 'stuffed' with parma ham, mozzarella and spinach, their was a minimum amount of parma ham, no mozzarella and the smallest piece of spinach I've ever seen and to top it all off was completely flavourless. The final disappointment was our dessert, we decided to order something savoury for a change so opted for the cheese board to share. For £6.95 the portion size was appalling. We got six small pieces of cheese (two of each kind) parmazan, goats cheese and stilton with a piece of toasted ciabatta. I was completely shocked when my partner told me the price as I was expecting more of a variety and we would of sent it back if I hadn't already tried it cause it was definitely not worth it. After all that disappointment we weren't even thanked for our custom or bid farewell when we left by any of the staff. The two star rating is plainly for our previous visit only. Such a shame since our first visit was so pleasant but we don't plan to be coming back anytime soon after...
Read moreWe arrived this afternoon and greeted by Ross who gave us a table by the window and brought over a high chair for our 1 year old daughter. I asked if he could possibly heat up our daughters food and he very kindly said he could, he even brought out plastic baby cutlery for us, it was definitely appreciated.|Ross explained the concept of Pesto and shown us both the main and lunch menu, I felt the need to ask for recommendations as the menu is quite extensive and Ross went through it with patience and no rushing.|Whilst Rae was eating the food that Ross had warmed up, he brought out a Lilo & Stitch teddy for Rae to keep her entertained whilst we ate our food, this was service that we weren't expecting. Thank you.|I chose the Spinach Alfredo, Mushrooms and the Goats Cheese Pizzette, Liam picked the arrancini, pepperoni parcels and a sausage dish (he doesn't remember what it was called.... I am currently rolling my eyes). We shared bits and Rae was eyeing up my mushrooms so I also shared them with her, she gave them her seal of approval. |The food was yummy but I think what wins in Pesto at The Dibbinsdale is their service, we asked for the bill and I went to the bar to return the teddy and Ross said that Rae could keep hold of it for now, HOW KIND! Just means we will definitely have to return, probably sooner rather than later. |Thank you Ross for a wonderful...
