Visited for Sunday Lunch (First Time) on 15/5/22, and the food was well up to the usual standard I've come to expect from the Ferry. Both the beef and the pork were well cooked, and the trimmings were hot and cooked properly. Both our starters were perfect. However. the service was well below par, and I am leaning towards having to say that they cannot cope with the high volume periods when a lot of people descend on the pub at the same time, along with the pre-booked Sunday Lunchers. When we arrived, we were told that there was a delay in placing food orders, which didn't seem too onerous until it turned into 35 minutes. When our order was eventually taken, my wife had to repeat her starter order THREE times. We ordered 1 x Pork and 1 x beef for the mains. Starters eventually arrived and were fine. However, when the mains were brought out, we were presented with 2 x beef. It was pointed out to the waitress that we had ordered a beef and a pork, not two beef, but she still tried to give us 2 beef. She returned to the kitchen with BOTH beef only to come back with 2 beef AGAIN and tried to serve my wife with a beef instead of pork. It was pointed out yet again that we required 1 beef and 1 pork. This time she left my beef, went away and returned with the wife's pork. At long last all was well. After this experience. I don't feel that I would be happy going for a Sunday Lunch here again, but will continue to use The Ferry on week days instead as their food is still excellent.
Never had a bad experience here yet in all of our many visits. Staff are always so helpful and pleasant. Menu is fairly varied and always well cooked. Can't recommend this place highly enough. Great views of the Mersey to accompany your...
Read moreAdmittedly there were quite a few 10 of us, we were accommodated with seating, other friends of ours had booked and where served at least an hour after sitting at table. We had drinks sorted, when we wanted to order food we were told we couldnât at the kitchen had to many orders đŽ we would have to wait 20 mins, fair enough, 30 mins later we asked could our orders be taken , told to wait 20 to 40 mins. This really was unacceptable, I know the group was large because we didnât know how many were turning up, the attitude and manner with which we were told was extremely rude. We were talking about moving to the pilot boat and weâre on the phone to them when someone came to take the orders. When the meals were eaten it was nearing 2.30 bearing in mind we had been there since 12.00, we ordered coffees which was disgustingly bitter, when we went for more milk was asked where is your bottle, in a not so nice manner, so said use that jug there, which they did. Someone came to collect cups as there wasnât enough for our coffees, so bad, we were then asked if we could vacate some of the tables as there was a booking at 3. Apert from the first person who showed us to the seating area the remaining staff were extremely rude,I used to have a friend that worked at the Eggy Ferry, no wonder she left, , There was not enough staff on, there was also a funeral party downstairs which had had to be catered for, organised chaos, all need a lesson in customer relations. So very abrupt. Also the toilet floors were wringing wet, no wet floor signs, they also...
Read moreWhat a lovely friendly pub. I hadnât heard of this place before but I read a couple of reviews on the eating out Merseyside recommendations and thought weâd give it a try. It was for my daughterâs 13th birthday and it was booked for 12. From making the booking over the phone to leaving out the front door the experience has been just amazing. All the staff work so hard and always a smile, friendly and helpful. As it was a large booking pre orders were taken to ensure they had the items available from the menu to avoid any disappointment. When the food came there was definitely no disappointment and there was just an issue with the hunters chicken being a little tough but this was rectified straight away and not made an issue of (thank you) and a different meal of choice was quickly provided. My daughter had the lasagna and she said it was even better than mine! And my dad has not stopped talking about the fish and chips ⌠âthe batter was lovely and it was packed with lots of lovely fish, Iâll definitely be back hereâ
As it was my daughterâs birthday I provided a cake which they kindly stored in the fridge and provided plates and brought it out when we where ready so I canât comment on the desserts. All in all we had the best night, amazing views, food and staff just made the night.
Thank you again for helping to make a daughterâs birthday an unforgettable one. We look forward to returning again soon.
