I live really close to this park and take all of my 7 dogs there everyday (individually) the park itself is fine the baby ducks, geese , pigeons and squirrels are adorable and itās set out nicely however if you happen to have a āreactiveā āNervousā or ā timidā dog or your dog doesn't like other dogs or your minding your own business training your dog then trust me you absolutely WILL run into issues almost on the daily. People seem to constantly have their dogs off lead running around and will likely approach your dog off lead and 9/10 the owner has no recall the dog just ignores them, even if you see them ahead & tell them your dog is anxious, or NOT dog friendly they just seem to ignore your concern, and most will simply just say āITS OK MY DOG IS FINEā but have no care for the fact this could be a stressful or anxiety inducing situation for the dog on lead and potentially an extremely dangerous situation for BOTH dogs, and 95% of this comes from owners with SMALLER dogs, and āDecent lookingā owners and NOT Scallys in balaclavas with their hoods up walking around with 80lb dogs, they up to now (5 years) have always been really understanding and in a lot more control of their dogs who are often bigger & stereotypical āBad breedsā, another thing you will see a fair amount of especially in the summer is dogs being walked by small children which is lovely to see when a younger kid is walking their puppy or smaller more manageable dog, but Iāve seen kids of 6,7,8 years old walking Akitas, Bullys , GSDās, Dobermans, Labradors and retrievers and the reason I mention the above breeds is because they are the breeds involved in situations Iāve witnessed of a child walking one of the above dogs and the dog has spotted another dog or just a simple squirrel, someone elseās ball Etc and these kids did not stand a chance their either dragged behind for a bit of the dog is off towards its targetā¦..Im not a dog or dog owner hater in any way and dogs are my life but I feel if your gorgeous dog is off lead then at least have recall training and skills or a 10-30 meter training lead on, and maybe just be a bit careful when allowing small kids to walk powerful & unpredictable family dogs, I never want to see a child, my dog, another dog, another owner or anyone hurt from the situations above, and Iād also advise bringing an extra slip lead when you come to this park and Iām not being over dramatic I wish the dog walkers and owners would work together at this park to help this rather than bitching in the park post incident about...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis park was once a haven during the 80-90's with the central focus point on Serve Wirral training centre in Liscard Hall. Rose Gardens, a walled garden, playground, football & cricket fields, the stone castle mini play area & the infamous central park lake all in daily use. Liscard hall was destroyed by vandals after much abandonment for years & then the council pulled it down. The walled garden long gone & rose gardens no more. Not the much loved park it once was but still a central location & in use by the community for dog walkers, runners, football, cricket and more. It's in need of improvements, a cafe, toilets, park wardens, dog only areas & dog free play areas for our kids. Time for our council to bring back its beauty & put the heart of Central Park...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThere is football pitches, a cricket club, basketball hoop and sports cage and exicse equipment dotted around the park. There is a side chilled element to the park also. There is bowling green, 2 duck ponds one people fish in ( am not sure if a permits are required) and there is ample space to go for a walk (social distance walk) and there is many (mostly friendly) dog walkers ... There is also some statues and some art. I am not 100% of the origin or the back ground of these but the art that is there is grate. And history is always a good interest to most. Enjoy...
