I went here last year when it was new and I thought the food was quite good. The Moussaka used to be great and the kebabs were tasty. I went here last week and the food has really gone down hill. Maybe its a victim of their own success. Too busy ?? The food is takeaway quality at best now. But at restaurant prices. It's okay for a glass of wine and starters but I'd never eat a main here again. It's like they assume all British people are happy to eat bland, tasteless food just because it's got a foreign name.
If you've ever travelled and eaten well in the Mediterranean, then you will be sorely disappointed. If you're not fussy, then you might enjoy it. But not the bill.
Eg. I had Chicken with Mozzarella, asparagus, salad and rice. My partner had the Lamb Moussaka.
The chicken was a massive tasteless breast with cheap Mozzarella melted over it with really greasy fried asparagus. The salad was literally shavings of brown Iceberg lettuce. Nothing else. You'd get shot in Greece for serving that. The rice was just plain rice. Really really bland and boring.
The Moussaka has no meat in it. Just loads of onion and aubergine and tons of cheese. We didn't eat more than a few mouthfuls before paying our bill and leaving. Wetherspoons quality dinner.
I maybe should have complained at the time but everyone was busy and wearing masks and gloves etc. So it didn't seem appropriate.
I can't complain about the staff though. They are very friendly, polite and the bistro is modern and clean too.
Maybe it's just because they've re-opened after Covid....

The friendly reception we got and the efficiency of the team ment we had drinks in front of us within three minutes. Orders taken and starters served inside fifteen minutes.
The variety of choices was sufficient without being overwhelming and food was cooked to a high level of perfection (not greasey or dry).
All members of the staff interacted in a friendly and cheerful manner and were constantly attentive without being annoying.
So ! To the nitty gritty. Our three course meal with drinks (two large wines a pint of cider and a Turkish coffee) came in at an amazing £60........oh and 10p.
We're there any negative points? Well not from myself but my wife felt the efficiency was a little to keen and would have liked a small rest between courses.
We highly recommend this restaurant and wish to send our thanks to the whole team.

Read moreReally enjoyed the experience at The Mediterranean Kitchen. Visited on Friday 5th July with my husband. We had a great table for two in the window (perfect). The place was very busy when we arrived, but we were given our menus & served in no time. We were both impressed by the presentation of the food & the amount on our plates was more than enough. My husband opted for the chicken kebabs & they certainly didn't skimp on the chicken. It was cooked to perfection too. My own meal was the tuna steak with mango sauce. Again, cooked so well & it was really tasty with the salad & rice. The sweets were a really decent size, unlike some places. I had the chocolate sponge with hot chocolate sauce & my husband went for the baklava. He was very happy with his choice, as was I. The atmosphere is lovely & relaxed & we'll be going back again soon. We spent just over £55 with our drinks which was...
