I went to this restaurant in end of Oct/November time with a group of about 40 delegates who craved authentic indian food after spending a few days in London on a business trip. As we were visiting the area, I called up several indian restaurants in advance to see if they could accomodate a large group during for lunch at around 3pm. All restaurants told me they were closed between 2 and 5pm but the owner of New Haweli was happy to accomodate us during these hours (even though they're normally shut too).
He went to extreme efforts of providing freshy made roti bread, an assortment of meat and vegetarian dishes and also indian tea exclusively for the delegation. He even borrowed glasses normally used to serve the tea in India for this occasion! Although the delegates were very demanding, the owner and his waiter were extremely patient and polite. The food was also delicious.
I spoke to the owner at the end of the service and could see his passion for cooking indian food. He talked about his hometown in Nepal and cooking authentic indian dishes reminded him of the aromas and bustle at home. Cannot rate this restaurant highly enough, the guests who were from India loved the food and I definitely recommend. Would 100% visit again if I was in the area.
Thank you again for having us New Haweli, I know it's been a well...
Read moreNew Haweli what a terriable Indian meal I had, it's got to be the worse that I ever have had ! I ordered chicken shahlick that did not come out on the little tray sizzling but on a very big plate with everything on even the salad they had squashed on, it looked terriable with so much food on one plate, it was cold and expensive ! The onion Bhaji was rock hard I've had better ones from a supermarket ! I asked why the chicken shahlick did not come out sizzling and that putting everything on one plate was not inviting, and idian restaurants did little dishes so people can help there selfs to how much they want on there plate ! His answer was the sizzling dish can set the fire alarm off !!! What ! I've never heard such a poor excuse ! The chef clearly cannot cook and if it was my restaurant he would be gone ! Drinks very expensive and will never return the old restaurant where it used to be did fantastic food this clearly is not run by the same people. 3 waiteress came up and asked how the food was and I told them but they did not even answer ! Why ask customers how the food was if your not interested or prepared to sort it out. My advice is stay away from this place it's terriable food, and expensive theres other Indian restaurant far nicer, I didn't even want to give it one star but it doesn't give any option to...
Read moreIt was the first time I had eaten here and was delighted by the quality and quantity of food offered at a very competitive price. Thr flavours were spectacular, everything prepared fresh and piping hot when served. Really nice atmosphere, clean and tidy restaurant with authentic decor and loved the booth style seating making it feel secluded when dining either as a couple or with friends. The only feedback I would offer for improvement is to have maybe 1 more person serving as it was very busy for a Monday night and it took a while for the order to be taken and subsequent food delivery. Having said that though, we were in no hurry, so was good for us as we didn't feel rushed and just took our time, would definitely come here again as even with slightly slow service the food and environment outweigh the other area for improvement. ...
