Extremely fast service, we were quickly seated, and when we were seated, we were immediately asked what drinks we would like, I wish we had more time to look as we didn't even know what drinks were available then. The immediate reception into getting us our drinks just moments after we ordered them is commended, however the demand to immediately order food after receiving them was alarming given we weren't even given substantial menus!
Nothing to complain about for the wait for our food, although there is stuff to say about the food itself. One of our party was missing over 1/4 of her meal, which was on the menu, and not an add on. The part of the missing meal later arrived on a separate plate. (Gammon steak was missing the egg and pineapple) I asked for an upgrade for having extra cheese on my burger, however, our waiter must have misheard, as I then got brought out mozzarella bites separately, and instead of being charged an extra 79p, we were charged £5.79. And I also had bacon on my burger i ordered, but it was extremely dehydrated. And to no exagguration, looked like cardboard. Another member of our party, originally ordered turkey, however, they were out of stock, so it was switched to chicken, but the chicken was apparently very dry, and it lacked a lot of red cabbage, which was promised on the menu. Our party also felt that our waiter was not very welcoming, and that he wanted our table to be out of the way, and it did not feel very inviting. It felt like he was annoyed to serve us. And when we recieved the bill, we were shocked to discover that our colas were over £4 for a pint, which we would have avoided ordering if we had recieved that knowledge earlier.
To be honest, you get what you pay for, and charged a...
Read moreMy eldest son booked a table for his younger brothers birthday, the table was booked for 8.45pm. When we arrived we were shown to our table by a pleasent young man and he took our drinks order. Whilst looking at the menu a woman who we found out later to be the acting manager walk passed and in a gruff voice told us that the kitchen closed in 3 minutes time. This person called Lucy didn't even come over and speak to us in a polite manner. We sat there quite shocked considering they never mentioned this on our arrival and we didn't see any mention of it on their website or in the restaurant. Why on earth a booking had been taken for 8.45 and knowing the kitchen closed at 9 I don't understand. This upset my eldest son because he was taking us out for his brother's birthday. The two young men that were serving drinks were very pleasant but the acting manager didn't seem to have any gracious Customer service attitude at all. Very disappointed and feel very let down. Fortunately my eldest son was kind enough to immediately arrange a table at Miller and Carter, where the food and service were excellent, many thanks to Andrew who dealt with us and for the wonderful food. Will not be recommending the Barn Owl Worcester to anyone but would highly recommend Miller and Carter that's for sure. The one star given is due to the two polite young men at the Barn Owl but nothing for the acting manager Lucy, not with her...
Read moreVisiting the area so booked a table on line well in advance for 2015hrs. Booking was made on Tuesday.
Arrived at exactly 2015hrs and when a member of the team came to book us in he informed us that there was at least an hours wait for food. I asked if that would still be the case as we were booked and so our covers would be anticipated. He blithely replied “it’s a full pub and full garden so yeah”. We therefore said no thank you we shall leave to which he said “that’s fine by me it makes it easier for us”
I appreciate the weather was good and so likely busier than anticipated, however you must’ve continued to accept people in for meals when you knew you had bookings coming in.
I have had multiple booking reminder and confirmation messages in advance of the booking so it is somewhat confusing that you weren’t actually able to accommodate us, yes I’m sure you’d have found a table and two chairs but that isn’t a dinner booking being accommodated.
This resulted in us being in an unfamiliar area requiring a meal and so instead of a meal in a pub environment we had to resort to a takeaway instead.
My advice is two fold - if you take a booking make sure you can serve it. If circumstances play out that you can’t, try apologising and perhaps being empathetic to your potential customer and not...
