Hampton Chippy — Restaurant in Wychavon

I have religiously visited this chip shop for years. However I won’t be gracing their doors again. Over the last year the business has seriously gone down hill. The most recent owners have now run the chippy into the ground. It stinks, smells of old frying oil. The fish is tiny and frequently tastes off. The owners are ignorant and rude, they don’t acknowledge your existence and sit on chairs watching videos on their phones loudly. Hygiene is non existent, you can see a film of dirt on the walls and the floor evidentially hasn’t been cleaned properly for months. A few of the older staff members have stayed with the business through its various ownership changes and they do their best to make up for the woeful new management. EDIT: revised review due to new ownership. Ordered on Deliveroo, the usual order of chips, mushy peas etc. The app did not say the chips were BATTERED! They may be nice for people who can eat batter, but I can't. Mushy peas were nice but I couldn't eat the chips and had to cook my own at home instead. I don't think even if I could eat batter that I would want to eat so much of it. So just letting those of you who are intolerant to gluten know that you cannot eat the chips, they are made with wheat.

The gluten free night was brilliant last time and it was just as good tonight. Honestly the curry sauce is fantastic, the best I've ever tasted. The batter is lovely, it's light and tasty and my non GF husband loves it too. Can't wait for...

Not on our way to or from home so we have to make a conscious effort to go here, but it's worth it. Always great service and good standard of food. Only slight issue is they close quite early, which is understandable given the location isn't on a high street in the middle of town, but it also means food is cooked to order after 8.30 which can mean if your late home from work you will be a bit later waiting for the food.
