It’s says it’s Dog Friendly, but it isn’t, your made to feel unwelcome!
We were looking forward to visiting the new refurbished Robin Hood, as it was my partners Birthday we thought it would be lovely, to celebrate by having the Sunday lunch. As we have a dog we pre booked as they say it’s “dog friendly” a table in the bar area.
We were placed on a table of four when there were only two of us, which is fine and we thought nothing of it until later!
We ordered food at the bar and to be fair it arrived quite quick. So was quite impressed, the food itself, we both had a trio of roasts, which came with a large portion of veg but already had two large carrots under the trio of meats. For the meat, the beef wasn’t even a slice and was very small, not even half a slice beef. There was a slice of turkey and a chunk of pork belly. Don’t get me wrong the meats tasted very nice, but the whole meal you got was overtaken by veg, too much really. So it’s misleading.
But what we wasn’t impressed at, we had just finished our meal so just under an hour we were at the table and there were other people in the bar area, but we were asked by we think the manager, who asked if we could move as he wanted the table for 4 people who just turned up and not booked!
His temperament implied basically we had no choice, because he said it was busy. I think we were caught off guard, we had a lady that was next to us who was on her own not eating just with a drink, who sat in between us and another couple at the end of her who were also eating. There were another two ladies on a 4 table who were eating, but were not asked but we were because we had a dog!
We had spent about £80 just under an hour, and was about to order dessert, but we felt we forced out and made to feel uncomfortable like we just didn’t matter!
The thing is, these establishments say they are dog friendly, but you are put in a corner where it’s dark, why is it dark? made to pay at the bar to order food. Where if you in the main bit of the pub they come and take your order! You are treated so differently. You could tell they don’t want them in there really but they are having to do it maybe because they will loose trade, because there are a lot more people now who have dogs.
We were made to feel we didn’t matter, and it was awkward. The manager himself you can tell is not a people’s person, he made us feel that he was asking but telling us to move in the same tone. Just awful he should not be running an establishment if he doesn’t know how to talk to people! Awful!
He wanted to squeeze as many in as possible! Didn’t matter we had pre booked, he could have asked the lady that was having a drink on her own to move and the two tables could have be joined together as she was just drinking.
Not good at all and ruined...
Read moreWasn't greatly impressed with our outing here on Sunday to meet friends for Sunday lunch and a catch up. The staff were very friendly and accommodating (we arrived early so they quickly got our table ready so we could sit down). Our friends arrived and orders were taken promptly. The downfall of the place was the lack of cleanliness... I went to the ladies' and found there was rather a mess of wee at the back of one of the toilets! The whole area didn’t look like it had had a proper clean for years tbh and only one of the dispensers had soap in and only one of the dryers worked - the other had cobwebs to the side! To me, dirty toilets didn’t bode well and it made me notice other things... I told a member of staff as soon as I could -out of earshot from anyone else- but over two hours later, when I paid another call... you've guessed it, it was the same☹️ I seriously suggest the group employ a proper cleaner and give the place a good bottoming. There were old flies and bits on the windowsill behind me, the upholstery was stained and the light fittings were very dusty. It really didn’t feel a very clean place at all and after COVID you'd think these things would be important! Anyway, the meal. My husband and I had the Roast Beef. My potatoes were hot but the beef and vegetables were quite cold. The veg was quite hard as well, but that's my fault for not requesting softer veg. When I mentioned this to my husband afterwards he agreed the meal could've been hotter. Good portion size though. Because we were with friends it was a bit embarrassing to moan about cold food so neither of us said anything. If I lived locally I certainly wouldn't be calling again unless I heard it had...
Read moreToday my friends and I went to the Robin Hood Pub for lunch - and until today we loved it there. We ordered the same starter from the set menu (bacon and blue cheese salad) which we have had before and when it arrived we were a little surprised and disappointed as it was half the usual size and not presented beautifully as it always has been, but rather slapdash and thrown on a salad leaf. We ate the starter and when the waitress came to collect our plates we expressed our surprise - we didn't complain, merely asked if the salad had changed. The waitress (an older, very unhappy lady) was immediately rude and aggressive, snatched our plates and walked away from the table saying 'No it isn't, no, no, no...' and stormed off into the kitchen shouting 'complaints already.' We were embarrassed and upset, we didn't mind about the salad so much but the waitress's attitude was appalling and we were quite taken aback. She returned within a few minutes and apologised to us - not for being rude and aggressive - but for making a mistake about the salad - which she grudgingly admitted had been changed. My friends and I loved the Robin Hood and visited at least once every couple of weeks but the way we were spoken to by this awful woman today ruined our lunch. Despite the food being good and the rest of the staff always being friendly and attentive - this waitress clearly hates her job and the public and in this current climate staff like this can have such a detrimental effect on a business like this that rely on good customer service. She spoiled our experience of The Robin Hood and left a very bitter taste in our mouths. We won't be going again and we wouldn't...
