Los Arcos Restaurant — Restaurant in Abilene

During City of Abilene Restaurant Inspection the week of Nov. 4-10, 2024, Los Arcos received the very low score of 77.

Priority violation: Salsa held cold in the ice bath by the front of house prep area temped at 71 degrees. Corrected by the manager.

Priority violation: Chili rellenos on the top of the steam table for hot holding temped at 91 degrees. Corrected by cook.

Priority violation: Whole lemon was molding in the walk-in cooler, rendering it unsafe to consume. Corrected by employee.

Priority violation: Food was not protected by cross-contamination. Raw fish and diced raw beef was stored above salsas and sauces, ready-to-eat foods, in the standing cooler.

Priority violation: Container of Metamucil belonging to an employee was found by single-use utensils on the top storage shelf in the dishwashing room.

Establishment is using improper cooling methods to effectively cool salsa. Salsa was stored in large containers in the front of house area where the ice is unable to cover all of it during storage.

The hand-washing sink by the grill was being used to store dirty dishes.

Equipment and utensils are not maintained in good repair. A plastic spatula with rough edges was seen in the storage bin.

In-use metal scoops used for serving guacamole and diced tomatoes were being stored in container of water at temperature below...

Food was great only thing we didn't like they wouldn't let our group of 8 sit together!! Said covid protocol I could see that if we were strangers but why would strangers want to sit together?? And they had a group of eight right in the same room where they were going to sit us they were all sitting together at the same table but yet they wouldn't let us sit together what the heck?? And took forever for them to seat us !! The guy came out for the kitchen with mop and mop bucket told me I'll be with you in a minute and went and started mopping!! Priorities right?? not customer service for sure!! Finally got seated and the food was good . The only thing I don't like is stacking the hot sauce cups together and some didn't look clean . I'm sorry I watch things too much I guess but I can't change too late in the game 😂 but seriously things could of...

I always give the benefit of the doubt to local businesses. This time I was very disappointed. I ordered a "Carne asada". It took a long time for my food to arrive. The look of the plate was pleasing to the eye but deceiving to the mouth; it was tough when I attempted to cut the meat. I told the waiter, and he offered to give me another piece of meat. It took 30 minutes for that second "carne asada" to arrive. It was the same except that this second meat had less fat. I did not eat it. I paid almost 30 dollars, including the tip.

I will give this place a second chance and try its enchiladas or chilaquiles. But, for the moment, I would not...
