As an avid enthusiast of Indian cuisine, I was eagerly anticipating my visit to Touch of Spice, but sadly, it turned out to be an utterly disheartening experience. From the ambiance to the food quality, every aspect fell short of even basic expectations.
Ambiance: Upon entering, the ambiance seemed promising with dim lighting and Indian-inspired decor. However, the illusion quickly shattered as the cramped seating arrangement and lack of ventilation created an uncomfortable dining environment. The incessant chatter of kitchen staff further detracted from any semblance of tranquility.
Service: The service was abysmal, characterized by sluggishness and indifference. Despite the restaurant being relatively empty, we waited an inordinate amount of time before being acknowledged by a disinterested server. Requests for water and additional condiments were met with forgetfulness and had to be reiterated multiple times.
Food Quality: The crowning disappointment was the food itself. Our appetizer, the vegetable samosas, arrived lukewarm and soggy, betraying any semblance of crispiness one would expect. The main courses were equally lackluster; the chicken tikka masala was overly greasy, lacking in depth of flavor, and suspiciously resembled a hastily thrown together tomato-based sauce. The naan bread, touted as a staple of Indian cuisine, was undercooked and doughy, resembling more of a flatbread experiment gone wrong.
Example of Culinary Disaster: One particularly egregious example of the subpar quality was the "paneer butter masala," a dish that epitomized everything wrong with our dining experience. What should have been a creamy, indulgent delicacy turned out to be a bland concoction of rubbery paneer cubes swimming in an overly sweet and cloying sauce. The complete absence of any discernible spices or seasoning left us questioning whether the chef had forgotten the most fundamental principles of Indian cooking.
Conclusion: In conclusion, my visit to Touch of Spice was a regrettable mistake that I wouldn't wish upon any fellow food enthusiast. From the lackluster ambiance to the indifferent service and, most notably, the dismal quality of the cuisine, this establishment failed to deliver on its promise of authentic Indian flavors. With its inflated prices and dismal execution, Touch of Spice earns a resounding zero stars and a firm recommendation to steer clear of this culinary...
Read moreSo far we visited this place twice. Once for Dinner (Ala carte) and one for lunch buffet. The chef is from punjab so you could feel that flavor on the recipes.
Ala Carte food was excellent and very authentic. We ordered Butter Naan, Yellow Daal, Steam Rice, Chicken methi malai. Every single item was very delicious and with good balance of spices.
We thought of giving another try but through lunch buffet (it's $ 9.95 with decent selection of foods). It turned out a horrible idea. They had veg pakora, Punjabi saag, panner butter Masala, Tandoori chicken, chicken butter Masala, chicken tikka Masala and goat curry. Most of the food was stale (not freshed at all and you can feel through taste). I complained about the Punjabi saag and tandoori chicken, chef came to us and denied that it was not fresh and he even claimed that it is mustard which has this weird taste. Chicken tikka masala and even gulab jamun were stale too and could be easily felt from their taste.
On a separate note, they were serving free soda for liking their Facebook page which I did so that I can express my experience there too.
I would not recommend you to go there for lunch buffet at all. Dinner would be a great choice (slightly on a spicy side...
Read moreNew to the area, craving Indian food, found this place with mixed but lots of favorable reviews.
The menu looked great. Lots of choices. I decided on a variety appetizers. When I placed the order by phone, they didn’t ask for my name. Red Flag. When I arrived to collect, no one was eating in the restaurant. Red flag. A table on the side had a white tablecloth that was badly stained. Red flag. But at least I could smell the Indian spices. While I waited, two carry out orders were collected. A good sign.
My review: Deep fried vegetable pakoras. Generous portion. Tasted ok. But I could not identify the vegetables under the batter (cauliflower, spinach, onion). I think they were pre-made and frozen first. Aloo tikki. Perfectly formed potato patties, deep fried. Definitely pre-made. Interesting taste. Tandoori Pesh Kash. A variety of meat. Boneless chicken breast. Okay. Battered fish nuggets. Okay. Tandoori chicken leg and thigh. The outside was red, the inside showed shades of Green. Not okay. The kebabs were salty and I couldn’t recognize the meat. I was hoping for lamb but nothing tasted like lamb and I still have no idea what it was. Sadly I will not...
