Wish this quaint place was closer! Friendly staff—the waitresses were personable & joking with the customers. I thought the service was top-notch. Very reasonable prices & the turkey club was delish. You know, turkey carved from a turkey, not picked out of a lunchmeat case. I went in to this place with low expectations based on some of the reviews. But, we were pleasantly surprised. And tbh, we were kind of a high maintenance table—first we wanted to sit outside, then we moved inside so we could enjoy a glass of wine with lunch. Very accommodating! (Sailboat pic is a short walk from the restaurant)

It’s a bonus when a restaurant has a wall full of snarky sayings to read while you’re waiting for your food. That was part of the folksy atmosphere along with friendly waitresses who call you hon’ as they take your order. But it’s the food that really counts. We had the turkey club and their burger. Both were excellent. (And large portions) The side of homemade mashed potatoes was worth it. Service was quick and helpful. Washroom was clean. If we’re back in this lovely part of Vermont, we’ll stop in again.

I looked forward to this visit. Since moving to Rutland in 2019, I hadn't had a chance to visit the bridge and the diner named after it! My Spanish omelet was HUGE and very filling. Only a couple of other customers were there, but I was told it was just the calm before the storm. Anyway I will go back again someday. It's worth a stop. Friendly staff.

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. Loved this place but it seems since my favorite waitress retired the service is going downhill. I recently visited with my family and sister in laws family. When we walked in I could see the unpleasant look in the waitress eyes because we had 7 people. Not sure if it was because they are understaffed or she despises actually working. She commented that breakfast was no longer being served. That was fine I said and I could see the look she gave me she was not happy we stuck around. We sat and waited for the waitress to serve us. During this time I saw this waitress belittling an older couple because they wanted breakfast and it was no longer being served. She was even waiving the menu in their face telling them to read it because it said lunch and dinner. Being that we had a 6 hour drive my sister In law asked if we could be served. She was clearly annoyed because she wasn’t able to switch over the tables from breakfast to lunch as she made a comment to another couple in our presence to move the breakfast items themselves because she did not have the time to do it yet. She took one order and was told the drink, yet asked what drink was wanted. When she was told we already said coffee she immediately asked if we wanted to speak to her manager because we had an attitude. Sorry but the only attitude was yours and you cost the owner of the business money. Other reviews here also comment on the unpleasant service provided here. Bottom line to whoever the owner is this lady is losing you money and I will never come here again if she is working there. She had no problem when we left even said good when I said we were leaving. If your lazy and rude you should seek employment elsewhere not in a customer...

AMAZINGLY RUDE WAITRESS. First of all they won't let you in, the door into the dining area is locked and you have to wait in a vestibule area and sign a book - it's not explained but we assumed this is a queueing system for busy periods, we didn't bother as there was only another couple before us and the restaurant was nearly empty. Eventually the waitress came out and demanded to know if we'd all signed the book - that we hadn't didn't go down well... A regular patron came in at this point, so we two couples and he were taken inside and told which 3 tables we were to have - no 'would you like to sit by the window ?' or similar pleasantries, it was 'you sit there !' Then she took drinks orders and was so rude to the regular - he was an older gentleman and a bit hard-of-hearing, but she shouted at him and treated him with no respect at all, speaking to him as though he was a simpleton. We left without ordering - the USA prides itself on good customer service, but this woman was too rude and we took our custom elsewhere. If this is the standard of service usually offered, I can only imagine this restaurant survives on tourists to the Champlain Bridge and inter-state...

Awesome food and a wonderful waitress serving up a crowd that all showed up at the restaurant in the same minute. Top quality food was delicious and presented in a particular pleasingly manner, well balanced meal offered for an entray. I was reluctant to request the mashed potatoes, since most other establishment whip them and offer as mash. I really like true mash and these were wonderful, moist and I requested gravy on them, what a beautiful suprising accomplishment. All at a reasonable price, so I rewarded the waitress serving me graciously with monertary units. During the off season when even the welcoming centers are closed, these people are open year round. I will return whenever I am in the area and need to sit down for a really good meal. Can see why not many places were open, since they were fertilizing the agricultural fields all around, inside was fine, when going back to my vehicle it was noticeable. The oder didn't bother me but might bother a badelax with a sensitive nostril.

Sory no photos. I took a few photos and will post later after transferring them out of my...
