Had breakfast, got the chicken fried steak with eggs and toast. It was okay, the steak and gravy were good but the toast was a little closer to bread, my scramble eggs were a bit over cooked and the hashbrowns were raw and burnt at the same time. I'd stear clear of the hashbrowns. Wife's food was okay, eggs cooked right and her bacon looked thick although it was a little over cooked. Her hashbrowns same story. Service was fine although some things on my wife's plate were wrong. Got enough coffee and the place seemed pretty clean. Parking could be a problem.

We LOVED it here! The Breakfast is amazing! They have the best French toast i have ever had! And the coffee is really good here. The service is great, very friendly waitress, on top of refills and anything we needed. Very kod friendly. The portions are generous. We will definitely come here again when we visit Afton.

This should be a four star place but the service was extremely slow. The spicy half-pound peanut butter and jelly hamburger caught my attention. It’s a standard burger topped with peanut butter and jalapeño jelly. I’m not sad I tried it, but there was no kick from the jelly because the peanut butter was way too thick.

If I could leave no stars I would. We got to the Valleon around 10:10 for breakfast, left at 1130 still having not been served breakfast. Over an hour and no food. Had no creamer, and had to steal it from another table, ran out of water for over 20 minutes, when water was refilled she said she would bring us more Creamer, but never did. I went to the restroom after about 30 minutes of being there, there was nobody even sitting at the bar top, (this is an important detail in a second) After about 40 minutes we get an apology saying our food will be out soon. Around 1125 we ask how much longer and are told 5 minutes.... We give up and ask for a bill to pay for our coffee, we're done waiting. She tells us we don't need to pay for the coffee, we insist so we can still tip and pay for our coffee, the server rolls her eyes as she walks away (I do not understand this, was she just wanting to make it sound like we walked out without paying, no we want to pay you for what was done)...... as we were leaving, I look at the bar top and there is a couple sitting there with food!!!! Roughy 30 minutes after being there probably 20 minutes after ordering there was nobody even at the bar, how are there now guests there with food????? I myself have worked in the service industry for close to 2 decades serving and bartending and have never been this disappointed in my service and the food took to long to even try... don't waste your time that's an hour I'll...

My brother and I came in after a day of fishing, sat down and ordered 2 sandwiches and a one trip salad bar. There were only a few people in there when we first got there and were told by our waitress that this was her first night... ok. After we had got and ate our salads two other groups came in and sat close to us. One group of four ordered steaks and the other group, a couple ordered chicken fried steaks. At about the half hour mark I stared wondering what was taking so long and then I noticed the other waitress that had been helping the new girl was gone.. nowhere to be seen! Then the two other groups that came in after us by 20 or more minutes and ordered steaks and chicken fried steaks got served their meals, this was at about the 50 minute mark I asked what was taking so long and was assured ours was on it's way....another 10 minutes and finally we were severed. The French dip I ordered looked like they went and got it from Arby's. The meat was dry and not what I would expect for a "Cowboy Dip". I took my sandwich up to the counter and asked to talk to the manager/cook, and said "I waited an hour for this while the other tables around us were all served steaks they ordered after us"... He shrugged his shoulders and said SO!! Had we not had the salad we would have left before... Local with a bad attitude and just don't care. paid bill, left new girl her tip... won't be back......

Definitely inviting on the outside, but lacks in customer service. From my observation the customers sitting at the bar seemed to be locals and were very much attended to and treated well. We on the other hand, were passing through Afton and did not receive the same service and respect. If you are looking for food and just passing thru,,,seriously would not recommend it. My parents who were with us are born and raised in Afton. In fact, my mom who knows the owner of Colter's very well was very let down when she witnessed how the waitress handled the cooks mistake. She had all the control and ability to make things right but made no attemot to do so, not even an apology for making me wait 10-15 minutes for the other half of my order. Then by the time she brought it, the food she initially brought was cold. I served tables at Alice's Restaurant in West Yellowstone for years and whenever a cooked messed up ticket like that we apologized, explained what happened, and even asked the customer what kind of discount is needed to make up for our mistake. We did this because providing a good experience to our customers was our number one priority and reason we did the job. Anyway, go to pizza hut or burger king. They are near by and you will get better service...
