never giving them service ever again. I've been extremely disappointed every time I've bought from them this summer. food always comes out cold, mediocre food at best, milkshakes are soupy, burgers are obviously frozen store bought patties, amount of fries are always inconsistent, they make you pay for your food before you get it, and before you know how long it'll be to get your food. they also make you tip before you get the food too, which makes absolutely no sence to me. why do they think the deserve a tip? tips are for real waiters, not fast food runners.

I went for my last time today. the waitress took my order, then made me pay. I asked if I was able to pay after I get my food, bcuz I wasn't going to wait for 1 1/2 hours for food I've already paid for, again. She tells me that i cannot do that, and in order for her to pass my order to the "cooks", I would have to pay. She then doesn't give me a chance to give a tip. I get my food in good time (15 minutes) with no receipt. I then ask a waitress for my receipt and upon looking at it, I find out the waitress made her own tip. I then realize my order was wrong and had to wait another 5 minutes to get what I paid for. I don't know who's managing Red Baren this summer, but they need...

I grew up eating here back in the early 80s. Came back to Afton for a family reunion and had to stop in. The decor has changed but the service and food hasn't changed much. They still offer slush puppies!. I had the Double bacon cheese burger, and the Baron Blast drink off the specialty drink menu. We shared a fries, tots, and onion rings. All were perfect, and just what I expected. They also serve fry sauce (aka pink sauce)..and the menu has lots of options. The waitress at the counter was super friendly, patient, and smiles for days. If she had a name tag, I would give her due credit. The only complaint I have..isn't so much the restaurants fault. But the dinning room was PACKED! And it seemed that is was mostly family's with small children, which is fine, bit the teenagers that were being loud and left their table a huge mess was a bit unnerving. Again.not the fault of Red Baron...more so the delinquent "kids" must have never been taught manners.

What to say about the Red Baron? It's not gourmet food, and that's A-OK, if you're looking for tasty burgers and tots, and amazing ice cream/shakes this is the place to go!

I had the pastrami burger and it's become a favorite of mine. It has a lot of pastrami on the burger which made up for the thin burger patty. I always add some mustard, because I like the extra tang.

My husband had the chicken Royale which is his favorite sandwich there, and it's also my teens favorite as well. We got tater tots and they were fresh and had a good crunch to them, my favorite tots in Afton.

When it comes to ice cream we all have different favorites. Hubby loves the marshmallow shake. I love the butter pecan swirl ice cream cone. Our teens always order something different and it's always good.

Downsides are that this place is pretty much packed open to close. Sometimes because of this the kitchen gets backed up and the food comes out slower, but it's worth the wait. Just relax and listen to some tunes, no need to...
