Platano Loco has long been a local favorite, known for its authentic Puerto Rican dishes and warm atmosphere. Recently, the restaurant moved to a stunning new location near the beach, making it a perfect stop for a day trip. The new spot offers beautiful coastal views, enhancing the dining experience with a relaxed, seaside vibe. The food remains exceptional, with the "Mofongo Islands" being a standout dish—packed with flavor and served just right. The kids' menu also offers plenty of variety, making it an ideal place for family dining. Prices are fair, especially considering the prime beachfront location. The only downside is that the bathrooms could use a bit more attention in terms of cleanliness. However, this minor issue doesn’t detract from the overall great experience. Platano Loco continues to deliver fantastic food in a laid-back, scenic setting.

If you haven’t tried plantains yet, you're seriously missing out. Unlike bananas, plantains are starchier and perfect for savory or sweet dishes. When fried, they get this irresistible golden crust with a tender, almost creamy inside. Whether it's tostones (twice-fried green plantains), maduros (sweet ripe plantains), or plantain chips, each version brings something unique to the table. They pair beautifully with rice and beans, beef, stews, or even on their own as a snack. The sweetness of ripe plantains adds a lovely balance to spicy or salty mains. Bonus: they’re naturally gluten-free and super versatile. Rating: 10/10 – A flavorful, affordable staple that's hard not to love.

A mofongo, tostones, and platano lover's heaven. Platano Loco is a beachside restaurant where everything is platano-based or platano-accompanied. I had the platano sandwich and I thought it was pretty good. Good size, and the pastrami was nice. Good service, medium wait time (20 to 30 minutes). The Platanutres were also fresh tasting (which is a complaint I usually have in other places). Overall, I'd say it's a quirky place that's worth visiting for it's Platano theme.
