Went here for lunch with my husband today (Sunday, June 23, 2019).
Place was clean Service was just okay Waitress was friendly, she walked by our table several times and didn't refill our empty water glasses until we asked. They need to leave water pitchers on the table if they don't plan to refill.
We ordered: Special Chow Mein (chicken, beef & shrimp) this is what I believe we read on the menu (not sure if it's was what we were served) & Combination #15 Sweet & sour pork Almond chicken Chicken chow mein Water only
Informed to set where we want, water & menu's arrived. No much too choose from so I ordered combination #15.
Went to the restroom. You have to walk by the kitchen. I noticed a large tray of breaded cooked pieces of meat (chicken), another tray of cooked non breaded white chicken meat. Setting on the prep table. Didn't think too much about it until the order arrived.
My food was hot, pork was overcooked (actually burnt and hard), almond chicken was okay due to gravy, chicken chow mein was tasteless, I can make better stuff at home. It was a great disappointment. Chicken chow mein had what tasted like canned goods (mung bean, mushroom, baby corn) I expect the water chestnuts to be canned but the rest of the ingredients??? The only fresh vegetable on the plate was the onion and I am now questioning it. I guess if you really like flavorless, bland food this is the place for you.
My husband meal.... Egg drop soup...it was tasteless and look more like unseasoned chicken noodle soup with extra vegetables. Special chow mein arrives, we have never seen chow mein presented like this. The food on the plate was one color (white) and only had 3 quarter size peices of shrimp and no beef, about a cup of chicken, about a cup of large cut vegetables (bok choy, onion, and canned mushrooms only) and what looked like about a half cup of noodles coated in a very bland sauce. It did not look like any chow mein dish that we have ordered from other establishments around the valley. I think they may have given him the wrong meal. He added salt and pepper and it didn't improve the taste. My husband ALWAYS eats his food even if its bland, he didn't finish the meal he said the chicken was too dry to eat (he actually started coughing). Price spent $26.44 and wasted half of the food on the plate. The dog would not eat it! If you like your food precooked, from a can and tastless, this place is for you! I prefer Asian cuisine that is served with fresh vegetables and perfectly cooked meat. We will...
Read moreI've been here about 10 times. The first 2 times were good, pricey, but good. After that I haven't had a good meal since. Granted, I always get take out, but the chow mein always has a lot of liquid in the box, covers my entire plate. Almond chicken gravy is not consistent, different every time. The shrimp always have a really thick batter. It's not ideal, but it's not horrible. However, this last time, I decided to try something I hadn't had here, and I got the szechuan beef. It was thick chunks of beef with the consistency of rubber. The sauce was very watery and covered my entire plate, and the peppers were cut very large. At this point, I won't be back, especially for being above the average price compared to other restaurants in town and i live down the road so its not like it sat for any amount of time. The quality just isn't there. I gave an extra star for the wait staff, which has...
Read moreI have been dining here since 2001. My favorite meal has always been the house appetizer plate which (used to) include two pork egg rolls in a thin, almost phyllo dough type wrapper, five deep fat fried gyoza and some barbecued pork with mustard and sesame seeds. After it was purchased from the original owners some time ago, the portion size shrunk. Apparently it was purchased again three years ago and it is no longer worth going back. The egg roll is easily 1/3-1/2 smaller than before and if there was any meat of any kind in there, I couldn't find it. The gyoza is 1/5 of their previous size and frankly, I'm embarrased for the owners. I used to be able to get two delicate bites of the pork. Now they put in a pea sized amount of meat. It's just a wonton wrapper with a speck of something in it. Very, very diappointed. The picture on the right shows the speck of meat...
