This place was recommended by a friend so I tried it out last night. Food was good but I must say but well overpriced. I ordered the steak and shrimp(10) for dinner, sat down ordered and got my sprite which was very stale and got another and told the server to try it and he claimed it was perfect so I changed it to coke but still the same so I hus didn't worry about it. Proceeded to bring me my food and packed it up to go but the server had to ask 3 times what I ordered n found out the to go was mine so they fixed that part. Ordered 10 shrimp and got 6 but they tried to charge me for 10, then the printer wouldn't work so I didn't worry about it. Mind you $48.99 for telegram dinner but got charged $70.62, sorry sc taxes not that high. Went inside to show frank, the owner, and all he said was he gve me a good deal as if I was aking for a break. Very nonchalant to say the lest, so I asked the waiter, his grandson, was he stupid or was he very stupid, are you smoking weed or what? I let them keep the extra $13 and walked out but I promise you this, yes the food is good but not worthwhile you charged me, didn't offer the diff bk BTW. I will never recommended or visit this place again. Frank was too interested in a lady he actually sat down with while she ate I guess and probably thought I wanted sum free, go figure. Sorry Variety, you...

This place had been recommended to me for years. It just didn't work out for me to dine there until recently. The Wednesday special is a shared seafood platter with two salads and two potato choices for $17. On the platter was one piece of flounder, four shrimp, four small scallops, six oysters, four hushpuppies and one stuffed crab. All except the crab were deep fried. This was not enough seafood for two in my opinion. The flounder, oysters and hushpuppies were very good. The shrimp, scallops and crab seemed to be plain frozen not fresh. The scallops were somewhat rubbery as well. My baked potato was excellent but served with whipped vegetable topping. While the tartar sauce was very good, the cocktail sauce tasted like ketsup with some vinegar added.
The decor was vintage 1950-60's. No problem for me as the original building was a gas station in the 1940's. Lots of wood, old photos and reviews on the walls.
So my experience was a mixed bag. Some good, some not so good and a small portion. I understand that they are also known for their steaks. Maybe I need to go back and try them for that. But right now I'm not...
Read moreOur first time there and we drove over 40 miles to eat there. We ordered the special for 2 and i was kinda shocked when the plate showed up. I got more salad and baked potato than i did seafood. I got 8 shrimps, 5 scallops, 2 small pieces of flounder and 1 devil crab and 4 hush puppies for 19.99, i think thats a little high for the amount of food i received. I asked for no oysters and extra shrimp and was told that was fine and received no extra shrimp and forgot about it until i was on my way back home. My tea was water tasting and i didnt want to seem as a complainer my first visit there so i didnt say anything but that was my first and last visit!! The amount of food is definatley not worth the money by no means!! My so called platter was and appetizer for 2 not a platter for 2..i am totally dissatisfied with this visit!! Wednesday...
