Wish I could say I would still give them business. But after the way they conducted hiring, I would never put a dime of my hard earned money into their pockets. Had me do an 8 hour working interview, made me believe I had the job. Only to make excuses or not answer when I inquired about the position. Then said I could have a position making cookies because, busy season was coming. No, I have no official baking experience other than the Blue Door, but I proved my worth and ability. So it was basically because, none of the other staff wanted to do cookies and I’d be used as a work horse to complete the things they didn’t desire to do. I wanted the previous job I was described so bad, I kept up with the “manager” who said “oh, I never heard from you, so we passed you up.” Which was no true in the least, they heard from me, plenty, I explained exactly how much baking meant to me and how much I loved it. I even refused to reschedule my working interview (which for those that don’t know, you work an 8 hour shift with no pay) because I wanted that job so bad. Bad business conducting. Pretty sad in a time when no one wants to work, someone who was struggling to find a job gave her all only to be treated like an idiot.

I showed quite well in the 8 hours day experience. Tea cookies was never mentioned during the working interview. It was bakery, as well as assisting the chef to expand the menu. No, I never went to school, but the baking I do at home would supersede even the 5 year employees at your venue. Experience is not measured by schooling or just work experience. I hope you all realize that filling someone’s head with one thing, then excuses after excuse to not hire someone for the position that was offered (because it was never tea cookies) is not only creating false hope, but also makes you a liar. I can absolutely post the text messages if you’d like me to show everyone your blatant lies because, they’re not something I just made up. I guess maybe next time you lie, don’t...
Read moreI called this afternoon to get details of their offerings and prices for the items for a wedding shower and girl on phone was helpful, I stated that I would be in before they closed to drop off ribbon color samples and place my order. I went in @4:30 (they close at 5) and clerk is mopping the floor. She says that she will be right with me, and proceeds to finish mopping the floor. Asks me what I need. I explained that I had called earlier, got the information and prices and was just there to place the actual order and drop off the ribbon colors. She kept going to the back and came out saying that someone was on the phone and she would see how long they were going to be. Comes out and asks me if she can get my info and have someone call me because they ARE closing in 20 minutes (so that means that they are still OPEN for 20 minutes, right??? and not MY fault that she had to finish mopping before waiting on me) I said that I could not come back during the week, that I would be without my vehicle for servicing and I just wanted to place the order now. She said again, well we can have someone call you. I left less than pleased and without placing my order, which would have been very close to $200 for what I was going to order for the shower for 80 ladies. I will be telling all of them about my experience. When a business states that they are open until a certain time, they ought to be prepared to wait on customers until that time. I won't be stopping in for lunch anymore, buying anything again. I am just tired of crappy customer service, like the customer is a bother for stopping in while they are still open and expecting to...
Read moreWe chose The West Side Bakery for our wedding day needs, and we are so happy that we did! The cake was EXACTLY as I had imagined it to be decoration wise, very intricate and good attention to detail, a work of art in fact. All of our guests were amazed at how beautiful it was, but even more so with how it tasted - all of our guests could not believe how delicious it was, saying it was the best cake they had ever eaten, and this is from people who had come from all over this country! The staff was always very friendly and pleasant to speak with. Each time I had contacted the bakery, whether by phone or e-mail, they were very quick to respond, always in less than 24 hours, even on the weekend. Our consultation was face-to-face, they offered GENEROUS portions of the tasting samples (we were even allowed to take the left overs home!), and assisted us through the entire selection process, offering examples and suggestions while also allowing us plenty of time to consider out options. We even had a few vegan guests that the bakery was able to accommodate with a small vegan cake, which was also DELICIOUS - we took home the left overs of this and literally could not even tell the difference between the vegan and non-vegan cake, icing and all! I would highly recommend this bakery for any special occasion needs, we will definitely be returning...
