When I first moved to Akron and found Decheco’s, I absolutely loved their pizza. Prefer thin crust and I like the little squares that they cut it into. However, the last several times that I have ordered it, I have gotten regular slices. The last two times I actually asked them if they would cut it into squares and they said they would and they did not. Just a little disappointed in that. Today I wanted to order a pizza because I was craving one and when I called I got some stupid AI. It asked me what I wanted to order and I told it that I had a discount code and what it was for. Then I told her what pizza I wanted and the size. It then said it put the order in and asked if there was anything else. I said yes I would like to cut it into squares and… And then the AI interrupted and said sorry I cannot make changes to your order. I tried to ask it questions but got nowhere so I hung up and called back and asked it for a person. It said just a moment and then hung up on me. Called back said I wanted to talk to a person in case it was an accident and it hung up. I called back yet again and said I wanted to cancel my order and then it said let me get someone to help you cancel your order and then hung up. I don’t see why a person can’t answer the phone and take your order and listen to you and make sure that you can get what you want instead of some stupid computer trying to act like a human. Unfortunately, I will not be going back to the store because I want to talk to people when I call. That’s why I call. Wish I could’ve just talked to someone at the store instead of having to leave a review about their...
Read moreI’ve been waiting for the right time to try DeCheco’s ever since they took 1st place in the Beacon Journal best pizza earlier this year (2025).
I ordered online for an early Sunday dinner around 3:45. The online ordering was easy to use and pay. The food was ready for pickup earlier than the estimate.
For our family of four I ordered a medium famous white, a medium New Yorker, chicken tenders, boneless wings (garlic parm on the side), jojos and Cole slaw.
The New Yorker was the best of the two pizza according to all family members. Nice thin crust but not floppy and great sauce/cheese.
Famous white: Youngest son (15) didn’t try it, he’s picky. Oldest son had one bite and chose not to continue. Wife tried but did not like it I was looking forward to this pizza the most of the whole order but found the flavor to be very underwhelming. The crust was excellent, the sauce was minimally applied and the toppings all kind of ran together and became flavorless.
Jojos were excellent, highly rated by all family members.
Chicken tenders and boneless wings are good if you like real pieces of fresh chicken, which I do.
The nathan sauce is excellent flavor. The garlic parm is oily and we prefer a creamy style garlic parm. We will try a different sauce if we order again.
Overall, we may order again and if we do we’d get the New Yorker and jojos for sure. We would probably try a different specialty pizza because we do not know what made the white...
Read moreI placed my order online. I called to make a change and they were helpful and willing to do that for me. I was very grateful for that. That's about where the goodness ends unfortunately.
The cheese on two of the pizzas was burnt. (Technically 3, but one of the pizzas we didnt even order). The pizza for the kids was burnt so badly they wouldn't eat it. The white pizza had incorrect toppings. They omitted the tomatoes and added chicken, like a ton of chicken. This pizza was for someone who doesn't eat meat on pizza, so it was a waste. We were given someone else's small thin crust veggie pizza...sorry to that person, but it was also burnt so you didnt miss much.
The delivery person just left the food at our doorstep and didn't ring the doorbell or call, which was crazy weird. If we didnt have a ring doorbell, I would have never known the pizza was dropped off. The wings were super fatty and lacked much of the lemon pepper dry rub.
Overall, this was a pretty terrible experience for $90. I doubt we will be back. We would have spent $40 at Domino's and had...
