To celebrate the completion of a difficult project, I wanted to offer at least a small appreciation token to some of my team who were instrumental in helping complete the main objectives. I asked them to pick a time and place and we could all grab breakfast together to just get away from the office and decompress for a couple of hours.
The team chose Wally Waffle unequivocally. I was excited to try it again as the last time I ate at a Wally Waffle, they had a location on locust Street in Akron.
We had a large group (7) but they were able to accommodate us with no issues and got us seated right away. The staff was extremely helpful and absolutely on top of things. Beverages never got anywhere near empty and they stopped by frequently to check on the table.
Food wise, our group had some great discussions over all the choices and a few of us really had to agonize over which option to finally choose. A few folks got some versions of an omelette (4 eggs, which made these things huge!) others got various versions of a waffle and combination sides.
I chose to try the "What in the waffle?" Which was a Belgian waffle with bacon inside, topped with sausage gravy and two sunny side up eggs. I also grabbed a side of Wally fries (hash browns.) I was very happy with my choice. The waffle itself was very flavorful and combined with the egg and sausage gravy, I was quite pleased. The hash browns were quite good as well but I regretted getting them as I was already quite full by the time I had gotten to them.
Overall, the team enjoyed the experience, food was fantastic, and service was amazing. It's a place I would visit again for sure. Parking was easy as there was plenty behind the restaurant which is a plus in the Akron...
Read moreI ordered food and let them know that I do not eat pork I spent $40 on breakfast. I requested country gravy instead of sausage gravy. When I got home I had pork sausage gravy. I called and let them know I had the wrong gravy and they referred me to the menu. The manager I spoke with told me she had to go to handle other customers while I was still speaking. She said the afternoon manager would call me. Fast forward to today. I'm here at the location I was told by Crystal the afternoon manager that didn't call me yesterday that she couldn't do anything the Owner doesn't do refunds. And she can remake the meal as a courtesy but it should have been done yesterday. After going back and forth about it she admitted it was on her since she didn't call me back yesterday. And reminded me she was not advised by the owner to remake or refund me SHE was doing it as a courtesy. I ordered a salad, gave her my name again and I told her my friend would come back to get it I have to get to work. She told me that she couldn't give it to anyone other than myself and it would be 10 minutes. 20 minutes later I'm writing this review watching orders go out left and right. It was very unnecessary to have me waiting and a huge inconvenience. As I told Crystal multiple times I needed to get to work. The option she gave was to wait or get nothing no refund/no food. It's ridiculous that after all of this she would not allow my friend to pick up my food when she knew it was for me. I ordered directly from her. This is just my third time here the second time being yesterday. The food is good and I don't have enough experience with them to say the service is bad. I will never...
Read moreJust like most bad reviews say, the food is not bad at all for a regular brunch place but the service, at least on busy weekend days, can be very poor. Long waiting lines and times to get meals (normal, it’s a weekend after all, happens at much nicer places like Blue Door and Mustard Seed too). Most staff were friendly but they are so busy they can inadvertently be impolite at times. Our server was not very polite today. I understand they were super busy but we had to ask for everything twice: had to ask for a simple glass of water which she didn’t bring (even with the long-waited-for meal), so we had to ask for it to someone else. Then had to orde server twice for another side we wanted. First time she did not even stop to listen, kept walking by saying “ok” and never brought it. Then we got the check... and that was when we had to ask for more food the second time. She wasn’t happy about it (perhaps she would have if she had listened to us the first time—after all it’s more money for them!) and again, I had not finished talking when she was already waking away saying “ok.” Gladly, this time around she did hear me because she did bring everything we wanted. Food is fine, especially, uhm, waffles... (not super good quality tho— if you want great, fresh veggies go to Mustard Seed Market, not a waffle place!), but like other reviews pointed out, customer service and cleanliness are not their stentghts. Next time we crave waffles we’ll try to make it at a...
