Let me start with my score... I am only giving this store two stars because at least the staff was mostly friendly and did tell the truth about my problem piercing... I had a nose piercing in my late teens that I had to remove when I joined the Army (for basic training). I always wanted to get it done again but working in health care it hasn't been widely accepted until recently. While attending the Rubber City Tattoo Invitational I found your booth and had always heard great things about your shop so I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger. Initially I had some serious sticker shock when asking for a quote, but decided to move forward anyway because of the positive word of mouth I have heard in the past. Jordyn (I believe) was my piercer and everything was handled in a very professional and clean manner, but when she was trying to place the jewelry after the piercing was complete, she was really struggling. It felt like the hole was way too far into my nose (towards the inside of my nose, not towards my mouth, if that makes sense) and she just couldn't seem to reach in far enough to get the leverage she needed to get the back on all the way. Fast forward to two weeks later and the front of the jewelry is pulling into the side of my nose and is not healing at all. I called the shop to ask if I could come in to have it changed out or looked at and they told me there were openings that evening but I would need to schedule online. Despite being extremely frustrated (I was on the phone, why couldn't they schedule me?) I went online and scheduled for the evening. When I arrived I was greeted kindly and told them why I was there. I also asked if they could place a backless piece of surgical steel jewelry that I had brought with me since I have rejected jewelry with a back in the past, of course this was a hard NO! They brought the person I was scheduled with over for me to explain and when she looked at my piercing she immediately said that it was pierced at the wrong spot and would need removed and to heal for a "month or so" and I could come back for free and get it redone. I am a nurse, I can tell you that it will not be safely healed in four weeks for another piercing. I kindly asked for a refund for my piercing but was only refunded the service fee because I can use the jewelry again..... For what?! If you are telling me that your employee did my piercing wrong and it has to be removed for safety reasons, then you should fully refund me. Not to mention the jewelry you are letting me "keep" is a $5.00 stainless steel post and back that you charged me $50.00 for. Needless to say, I will...
Read moreI dont normally leave bad reviews, but I’ve gotten two piercings at Good Life and both have gone horribly wrong. I got my Rook pierced back in July which initially healed very well. My piercer guided me through any questions I had and I came in for a downsize as instructed at 6 weeks. They didn’t have the correct curved barbell size, so my piercer decided to put a straight bar in my rook. This resulted in extreme swelling, causing my piercing to get embedded by the next morning. I messaged my piercer about this, but she advised that she couldn’t make the call on what to do about the situation. They couldn’t get me in that day despite the emergency, so I had to wait until the next morning to get the jewelry removed and it was one of the most painful experiences of my life. I’ve gotten spinal surgery, so I’d rate my tolerance is pretty high, but I left the shop in tears. I was not charged for having my old jewelry put back in, however I was told I could not keep the straight barbell as it should have never been put into my ear, so that is $30 lost. It’s been a few months since then, and my rook has still not returned to the initial size it was when I went in at 6 weeks. I took this situation as a one-off mistake and went back to the shop at the beginning of this month to get my nostril pierced. I brought my own jewelry that I had bought at another APP certified studio for my earlobes and I let them know that I was 100% ok with buying new jewelry if they thought it was inappropriate for my nose. I was told it would be perfectly fine, and got my nose pierced and that jewelry placed. Fast-forward a few weeks later to today and I wake up to my entire piercing embedded into my nostril, front and back. I went to a shop in Brooklyn, NY to get it fixed because I am out of town, and they informed me that the jewelry in my nose was completely inappropriate for a fresh piercing. The stud was too small, the bar too short, and the backing an inappropriate diameter as well. They even let me know that it was pierced at a strange angle, so I may struggle to get it healed at all. I wish this wasn’t the situation I had with Good Life, as it came highly recommended, but after both my experiences I just won’t be returning. I fully trusted my piercers’ advice when getting my piercings and both times it resulted in very unfortunate situations. The piercer that was responsible for my rook downsize really tried to deflect blame, saying they had done it in the past and it was fine, which didn’t sit quite right with me. I’ve spent over $200 here and it’s only resulted in very problematic healing from...

I made an appointment for my daughter's lobe piercing. We were running late. I called to let them know, and I even asked if we needed to reschedule. The lady on the phone said no problem, and no, we don't need to reschedule. Hit the highway in akron where the construction has 2 narrow lanes. One was blocked by an accident. Go figure. No one knows how to merge. So they call us to confirm we are on the way. I tell her we are. We just got off the highway. She says "ok no problem, we just wanted to make sure." We get in 7 minutes later. We walk on super excited. The girl at the counter, zero smile. I say hi, this is my daughter here for our appointment. She again no emotion tells us we have to reschedule when I asked her in the 1st phone call telling her I was late. Then she even called 7 minutes prior to me getting there . Didn't mention we would have to reschedule... WHY. Why didn't you mention it on the phone? So I could prepare my daughter. Ok, whatever, maybe we will come back.. We decided to look at the jewelry for next time we reschedule. My husband went to show my daughter the tray of earrings without knowing they aren't secured great and snatches them, and no nice tone at all tells us. Just tell us nicely. Please. She was not pleasant..
We left confused as to why she didn't mention it on the phone, why she was so rude and emotionless.
We drove 35 minutes because of good reviews, only to have a bad experience.
Yes, I was late for our appointment. Yes, they have every right to cancel. There is nothing wrong there, but please communicate that when you talk to me 7 minutes before I get there or the other phone call. I did my communication and due diligence, and they dropped the ball on their communication. The consumer service, vibe, and respect are much lacking.
Don't worry, good life, we won't be back. I hate to leave a negative review on a small business, but your employee earned it.
Update- The owner was kind enough to reach out and apologize on behalf of her employee and the experience I had. I do believe that customer service is #1, and she does as well. She was really kind and welcoming and explained this is now how her business is run. I appreciate her reaching out and talking with me. I wish I could go back and try again. The vibes and treatment we received just make me uncomfortable, so I won't be back. I added a star because I do believe this was a fluke on behalf of this rude employee. Hopefully, no one else has to expiernce this...
