Yesterday morning I had breakfast with a client. I noticed that two tables had large parties. Maggie was the only waitress and there were no busboys to either clear the tables or help with the beverages. After we got our food, we signaled Maggie to refill our coffee.....she apparently nodded, but never got around to refilling our coffee. We then finally saw the owners son and he acknowledged us and came to refill our coffee. So here's my point.....how can management expect only to have "one" waitress to wait on all those tables, yet also bus all the tables and set up and bring all the beverages and refill as needed and bring the check? Again, there were no busboys at all and just the one waitress and the waitress was also expected to work the bar. Why couldn't the owner's son step up to the plate and pitch in to do whatever needed to be done? I did see him in the back making coffee, but he seemingly was talking to two friends and seemingly didn't care what was going on in the main dining room. Cutting back in staff the way they did is not acceptable and the service sucked so bad, big time. Does management think they can save a few dollars in overhead by not staffing up to accommodate the crowd that happens to come in? Is Jim's doing that bad, that customers think their service can suck the way people were treated today? I have seen Jim's so busy, literally almost full both inside and out and waiters and waitresses and bus persons galore, but what, the people that may come for breakfast have to suffer with the service that sucks so bad! Trust me, Jim's had plenty of business today....actually too much for the one waitress! Jim's will be sorry when these customers don't show up for lunch and/or breakfast in the future. I personally will cut back patronizing Jim's due to all of the above. Sorry, time to look for...
Read moreI met several of my lady friends here for breakfast. We all attended the same high school. It was a nice get together.
Jim's on the Course is located at the Corica Golf Course on Bay Farm Island in Alameda. The restaurant has an extensive menu, serving breakfast, salads, burgers, sandwiches, etc.
I started off with an Arnold Palmer, which is supposed to be 1/2 lemonade and 1/2 iced tea. Instead I received a glass of iced tea with two lemon twist. Well, I certainly could not squeeze enough lemon juice from the lemon to make an Arnold Palmer. An Arnold Palmer is what I order as a taste test to determine if the food is good or just plain okay.
Since I wasn't feeling a traditional breakfast of eggs, bacon or sausage, hash brown, wheat toast, pancakes, waffles or French toast, I opted for Jim's Super Burrito. Choice of meat was beef, chicken or pork. Okay, one burrito with beef and the the listed fixings as indicated on the menu, please. It was okay, except it was a tad salty and lacked cilantro. I thought the beef would be carne asada; instead it was ground beef. Needless to say, I have better elsewhere.
Currently it is a hit or miss, pending a return visit in the future to order their crab cake benedict. Too bad they don't serve huevos rancheros with warm...

I usually go to this place. However, for the first time, I was racially profiled by my server upon discussing that multiple of our food orders at our table was wrong. The server told us she felt scared because our food order was wrong numerous times. When I asked why she was scared because we were not irate loud, or disrespectful, she was afraid because of the way we looked 4 women Two over 50 years old and the third was 38 and the last 18. There were three generations at the table I have never felt so disrespected and unwanted we paid for our food and left. To fear someone just because they are black is why many black people are killed in this country. I immediately felt that we were in danger.
I will add that there was a table of about eight men yelling at each other and pointing their fingers in one another faces about money and the ( who was responsible for paying and scheduling how late the person arrived); however, the loud, angry white men...
