We had the worst service this morning at this location. I was stopping by at 10:20am in the morning the bakery says it opens at 8am. The lights were on but no one was in sight. Checked the doors they were unlocked. Ok I understand sometimes small towns have just one person running the whole show and might be in the back that's fine. We walk in and start to choose what we would like to order. A minute pass no one comes (even though there is a door chime so they know people are waiting). Two minutes pass we found the Bell and rang for service, 5 minutes pass no one shows up ring the bell again still no one comes or responds. At this point we are wondering if we should just leave and we would have if our toddlers weren't heart set on having a doughnut now. 6 minutes we call out "hello anyone here" at this point we can hear someone working in the back. 8 minutes we walk back to the kitchen and ask for service from a young women who was just standing in the kitchen.... The girl proceeds to tell that we can't come in the kitchen. Which I completely understand under normal events we wouldn't however we have been waiting for almost ten minutes waiting, rang the bell, called out. At this point we wanted to know if anyone was even in the building or if we should just leave because clearly the door was unlocked on accident. There was no way the girl hadn't heard us. She proceeded to say she knew we were up front but have to finish a phone call... There was no phone in site when we finally found her. Again I would have understood finishing a phone call but there is no good reason she couldn't have popped her head around and said she would be out in a minute. Terrible service bad attitude to match. This could have been resolved rather easily by letting us know you have heard us, having a sign on the counter to let people know about a delay. Having worked in the service industry I would have never thought to treat a...

Cappuccino was placed on high top counter, not given to us, or told where / how to find it, as if we're suppose to know the store operations procedures. Burned our fingers on hot coffee paper cups, yet there are insulation wraps for hot cups stacked unrecognizably on countertop. Again the customer is suppose to know that the insulation wrap sleeve is suppose to be placed on the paper cup BY the CUSTOMER to protect hands from the hot coffee. We are not offered or directed to do so by the attendant employee. The very hot coffee was inadvertently dropped and spilled. Trash littered the concrete sidewalk and the one picnic table in front of the store was littered. There are no trash receptacles outside the store. Other than the filthy picnic table, there is no seating. We stopped by Alpine Bakery after having left Chair 5 Restaurant where Gingerale was flat, no fizz. Hefe beer was fine. House salad ok. Red King Crab Cakes and Halibut appetizers were served to us overcooked, not fresh, and barely warm. We departed after we found we could not eat our awfully prepared food. We were offered a dessert. We declined wanting a satisfying dinner meal. One waitress was incredibly rude. I looked in to a pizza place a few doors from Alpine Bakery to see if there were good options in there. But no. Drove back to Chugiak. The beautiful scenic drive never...

The baked goods are atrocious, honestly. I have tried many items while passing through to Seward and every bakery item I have tried is awful. The scones, brownies, cinnamon rolls, and donuts are basically inedible, I don’t know why I’ve given them so many chances, I guess I just keep hoping they can do at least ONE thing right. Well, I was mistaken, they cannot do even one thing right, sorry. And on top of that everything costs an arm and a leg. Even the coffee is astronomical, my 20 ounce DRIP COFFEE with a shot of espresso was just under $7.00. Oh, and the bugs in the pastry case today was the last straw, I finally learned my lesson and got just the coffee, although if I’d known how expensive it was (the price wasn’t listed accurately so don’t trust the menu) I’d have just waited for Anchorage. There were flies and even some mosquitos landing on the baked goods, it was truly grotesque. Absolutely unsanitary, you’re better off bypassing altogether and waiting till you get to another town entirely, truly. Even though Anchorage is still a 45 minute drive from this place, I PROMISE you will be better off holding out until then. That was the last time I’ll ever give this place...

Hidden Gem in Girdwood – Alpine Bakery I stumbled upon Alpine Bakery in Girdwood on my way to the Anchorage airport, and what a delightful surprise it was! Tucked into a charming little shopping center, this cozy spot instantly felt welcoming. I ordered a latte and an apple fritter (though I wanted to try their berry fritter, which had already sold out—always a good sign!). Both were fantastic—the latte was smooth and well-balanced, and the fritter had the perfect mix of crispiness, apples, and softness with just the right amount of sweetness. The real highlight, though, was the friendly service. The young lady working that day was an absolute joy—warm, welcoming, and genuinely happy to help. If you’re passing through Girdwood, I highly recommend stopping at Alpine Bakery. I know I’ll be back to try that berry fritter next time!

Stopped by for a few bakery items after stopping for gas around the corner. There was a good selection of items from donuts, cookies, muffins, scones, fritters, croissants, cinnamon rolls, etc... as well a wide range of hot drinks. The pastries looked good behind the case, so ordered a scone, apple fritter, and peanut butter chocolate chip cookie. Person working was nice and friendly. The prices are high, but not surprising in a touristy area that's also at a popular stop along the Seward Highway and near the Alaska Wildlife Conversation Center. As far as the taste, they were ok. Scone was a little drier than usual, cookie and apple fritter were both ok. It would be hard to justify the prices if it wasn't for the location. It's good for a a quick pastry or breakfast stop, but don't expect high-quality bakery items.

Expensive for the quality. Holiday convenience stores apple and blueberry fritters come in at a higher level and at 1/4 the price. We were so looking forward to the cinnamon rolls ($5) for dessert after supper that night (about 3 hours after purchase and in the container they sold it to us in). it's basically just bread with little bit of cinnamon very little icing and dry needing lots of melted butter. I'm trying not to be harsh but it was really $20 that we didn't have and we are trying to treat ourselves for the weekend. I wish we would have stopped at the grocery store on the way home.
