A locally owned establishment that had friendly staff and good service. Was my first time visiting this place so haven't tried but the one thing from menu. Which was the steak and cheese sub. It was excellent all the way around. From the bread to the complete sandwich. The onion rings where quite good also. While waiting for to go order I scanned the menu. And my observation of the place in a simple sentence is this. Spendy for a pizza joint, my sandwich with onion rings and a 2 liter was 22.47. That was a good visit. The second time I ordered a burger and was 14 dollars and to get fries was another 3 so 17 bucks for burger and fries. Then insult to injury I got the C team for the cashier gal cause she wasnt very bright, screwed my order up. Had a memory of a fruit fly and wasnt too friendly. If you want more bang for your buck and good food go down the road to Silver tip Grill. The menu is a little more modest but at least you get fries with your burger and they are curly fries which Coast wants like 5 bucks for and Silver tip is only charging 13 dollars total. Just as good food if not better and for less money. Sorry Coast Pizza but hopefully you change some things because people like me wont come back, the food is good however and could be a fully pleasant experience if there was consistency with the staff and prices were realistic. Hell you can get a burger at the state fair...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place is definitely something that I look forward to every single time that I venture that direction. It is just a small place that does have some indoor and outdoor dining options and sits right next to an ice cream joint that I also am fond of. It is just one of those places that ya go to just because it's what ya do.... tradition. One major reason is that when people drive south for a daytrip or a weekend excursion they usually stop here to grab some gas and let's face it. After a couple hour or more journey through the mountains it just seemsike a good idea to grab a bite to eat after fueling up the vehicle.
On this occasion I was by myself and I waited maybe 5 to 7 minutes in line and had several I traction with locals and visitors that were filled with smiles and laughs. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood.
I kept it simple simple grabbed a slice of pepperoni pizza which is 7 dollars BUT............. here is the thing. I pizza equals 4 slices which is technically 2 šš to 3 slices of ššš.
If ya are in Alaska make sure ya stop by and give em a try and if ya still have room....... get an ice cream š¦ right next door.
Cheers!
NOTE: make sure you like this review if this review helped ya. Thanks+
RESPONSE TO OWNER: I think that the sauce wasn't sweet enough for my tastes. I recalled it being...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNot sure what happened at Coast. I have been going there forever -- since it was Tacos, serving some of the BEST halibut tacos on the planet. In its Coast Pizza incarnation, it's been a staple, a reliable place to grab a good slice of pizza when heading through or back out of G'wood. Hit it today and was just flat out disappointed. The crust used to be flavorful, on the thinner side, and almost a bit crispy. Today it was thick, kind of tough, and not very flavorful. The sauce was too thick, too, almost gloppy. Cutting back on the amount of sauce would improve the pizza and, perhaps, save on the cost of ingredients. I don't object to the cost -- it's Alaska, costs are rising everywhere, and all of the shops at that corner are a little higher than elsewhere -- but it seems like things have really changed there. Let me put it this way: I've had plentfy of 4 and 5 star level pizza experiences at Coast, but today was meh at best. I'd give it 2 stars, but it's a local place and I'm hoping things return to...
