Northern Wings Cafe-Arctic and Dimond — Restaurant in Alaska

I placed an order with Northern Wings bakery November 20th for a pick up for December 31st. I sent a specific design I wanted and baker agreed to be able to do it. Upon arrival to pick up my cake, I was told that the “picture” that was supposed to be edible was all just paper and that it must be removed since it’s not for consumption. There was no mention of the edible ink printer not working prior and I find that to be pretty unprofessional giving I spent $80 for a cake. With this being said, the picture vaguely matched what I requested and the word “ matrix “ was not on the cake. I will be attaching what I wanted vs what I got as well. When taking the cake paper off, all of the frosting even the green border came off. I specifically wanted black frosting and got green. There were no numbers at all. I specifically do not like fondant and there was a thick layer over the cake which unfortunately did not make it enjoyable. I requested a refund in which I received $20 but I fully think it should’ve been at least 1/2 of what I paid because I didn’t get what I paid for. On a positive note, I appreciate the atmosphere of the bakery and the kindness as well but do not appreciate not being notified of the malfunction of the printer and would have liked to have received more of the refund...

I recently visited Northern Wings Cafe and had a fantastic experience. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for enjoying a quick coffee. I ordered a spiced chai latte with a shot of espresso, and it was delicious.

Even though I was in and out within five minutes, the owner was really sweet and welcoming. The care and attention to detail in their service were evident, and I left with a great impression.

What sets Northern Wings Cafe apart is their amazing cake baking classes and the array of cakes and desserts they make for their customers. Even though I didn't take a class this time, it's something I'll definitely consider for the future.

Northern Wings Cafe has been wonderful to work with! The owner may seem quiet, but she is genuinely kind and accommodating. She customized my first cake to meet allergy needs, which turned out absolutely delicious and stunning to look at. The second cake was made for me on very short notice—within just two days of ordering—and I can’t express how much I appreciated that.
