What does a mom and 2 kids need after a long hot day of park hopping? ICE CREAM! Introducing the account I’m now regretting I didn’t make … 🥁🥁🥁… amom2kidsandanicecreamparlor JK but damn that’d be “sweet” ((get it? 😉))

I asked for Albany recs & this one popped up a few times so we had to visit. I decided to park up the street a bit & we got a chance to walk Solano Ave (okay I saw an open spot & took it because you just never know). This street is so cool & has so many restaurants, shops, & businesses (medical offices , real estate etc). There are nice shade trees with benches underneath & colorful bike shaped bike racks. The kids loved seeing the different colors. 🌈 Okay onto the ice cream. 1) it’s so good 2) it’s vegan, organic, soy free, gluten free, & additive free. ((Plus I prayed over it so it had zero carbs & calories 😅) There were so many options & the kids were restless so I went w/the bon bon sampler, small little ice cream balls coated in chocolate shell 🤤 we got vanilla, mint chip, raspberry, & strawberry. They were all so good but I think my personal fav was the raspberry. The kids had fun eating them & trying their best to not have messy hands (impossible!). Other items on the menu include cones, cups, pints, cookie sandwiches & of course toppings. When we arrived we were the only ones there but quickly after it filled up with 4 people behind us waiting to order. The cashier/ice cream slinger was so kind & helpful. We sat outside on a bench to eat our delicious treat. There are 3 @mrdewies locations in the east bay, but this is the only spot that serves the bon bons.

The price is high ($4.50 single scoop to $10 for a pint) but you’re getting quality product. You can also get their pints local grocery stores. Next time I go (cus there will def be a next time) I’m gonna try...

As I ordered a double scoop a manager told his employee "Remember that the double scoops are %20 smaller than a regular single scoop". I was confused, and asked if I heard correctly. He then went on to explain to me that because it isn't twice as expensive, it is a matter of cost that it cannot be twice as much Ice Cream. That is not good business and demonstrates a lack of basic understanding of economics/customer service. I honestly expected him to end the conversation with a free voucher based on how he was fumbling over his explanation. However, instead he complimented his employee on how the scoops were just small enough as I was handed them. Amazing.

Also, as it was my first time in the store, I wanted to sample one or two flavors. I asked to try the chocolate and was given it, and then asked to try the cashew flavored one and the server hesitated and said "I guess that would be alright"...

Although no one was outright rude, part of the reason I want to patronize a local place like this is to support the community and have a unique experience grounded in great customer service that chains cannot give. Redeeming intangibles (like the decency of communicating to staff about sneaky downsizing behind closed doors) seem to be lacking here. Why not pay less for other ice cream, if poor customer service and atmosphere are not present?

2 stars because the actual product was good, albeit not for the price alone. I will not...

I had a need for ice cream, read the reviews here and thought why not. So, my friend and I went in and sampled almost every flavor, as this was new for us. The staff were super friendly and explained everything, she could tell we were new.

I ended up going with a half scoop of coconut and the other half mint chocolate. Yes, it has a slightly different taste but pair well. My friend had the turmeric spice and the vanilla, I didnt taste the combo but I did sample the turmeric and it was really good. The taste reminded me of a peanut curry sauce, which I make at home regularly so I loved it.

The flavors in the ice cream were so well bodied, you didnt need much to satisfy your craving for sweet.

I also loved how the tstating spoons where real spoons, and the to go cups were biodegradable, and the spoons were a thin wood or hemp. The spoon helped with the flavor actually, it worked well with the cashew.

Also, we tried the chocolate chip cookie. It reminded me more of an oatmeal chocolate chip and I could taste the earthy flavors. It was good, but tasted healthy compared to other vegan cookies I've tried that tasted more like a guilty pleasure.

I plan to go back next time I'm in town.

Thanks for...

I’ve been to a lot of ice-cream places and would usually find vegan ice cream somewhere at the bottom of the menu, as the supporting cast member. At Mr. Dewie’s Cashew Creamery, vegan ice cream is the protege - the John Wick of the cast - the main character. Making it easy for any vegan person to just indulge without questioning the possibility of any dairy contents. I truly love the golden ice cream (turmeric) because it borders on the line of sweet & not sweet. If you are someone whose sweet tooth is MIA; I would recommend the green tea option, made with matcha. If you have an active sweet tooth; the roasted cashew option would definitely pack a punch in satisfying your love for sweet ice cream. I’ve once had vegan ice cream made with beetroot, chocolate & coconut somewhere in South Africa, and was hoping that they would have a similar flavor. Anyway; great place
