I visited this park with a friend today and my little dog. The dog park should be named Unconscious People Park as clearly the dog owners are completely irresponsible here. When we arrived we were bombarded at the gate by dogs and people. The people were all saying what a cute dog I had but none of them were controlling their pets. I felt mauled by the dogs and people. It was difficult to get my little girl through the gate and she was definitely not liking it with her tail down. There was dog poop everywhere. When I first arrived I started to pick up poop I saw but there was no way, it was everywhere. Meanwhile a black lab was running dragging a smaller dog on a lease around the park. A large puddle looking dog was snipping at the small dogs back legs, so the dog was being dragged and snipped and no one was doing anything. The owner of the smaller dog was an older lady who didn't seem concerned at all but was one of the people goggling over my dog. We decided to go to the other end of the park to play and shortly after getting there I stepped in a massive pile of dog poop. That was it for me. It was a very unpleasant experience and I will not go back. My doggie didn't like it either and she does generally like playing with other dogs. This is the kind of thing that gives dogs a bad name and its not the dogs fault, its the people who are not being responsible pet...
Read moreThis is a pretty great park with a lot to offer. There is a play structure, swings, tennis courts, baseball field, batting cage, a basketball court, grass, a great public pool and a building for events. I go to this park a lot and there's always something to do there. The park is kept up well enough, they recently put in a nice new water fountain to replace the wet sand whole of the old one. The bathrooms are also kinda gross, but other than that it's a pretty great park. But I'm mostly here to review the tennis courts. There are four pretty well kept up tennis courts (fences separating them into two sections of two tennis courts). There's nothing special about them, just pretty good courts. If you play in the far back court, there's a shorter fence meaning there's a good chance balls will go onto the baseball field ,which is often locked, or into the construction at the high school. There is usually an open court, so the only time they are full is at the busiest hours. This is a much better place to come than King in my opinion to play tennis and a better experience than a lot of other tennis courts...
Read moreContext. This park adjoins all million dollar single family homes - many with well kept and developed/ designed yatds not one home below a million, and probably some exceed 2 million. Yet this park is an eyesore. It meets their needs, but, come on, you can do so so much better. For a community that adjoins the Berkley area, known for social justice, you would think you'd want something that's sets an example of how a highly educated, rich community invests in neighborhood public resources, like this public park, connected to its community high school. It is not a good example. ...
