El Cactus was recommended to us by a lovely local woman after I asked if there was a place in Albion my husband and I could grab a cocktail. We had parked our car in preparation for the eclipse, and didn't want to move it, so the walkable distance to El Cactus was perfect. This authentic restaurant is bright and open inside with nice seating options on the patio. Great for groups. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the chips and salsa are very good. My husband ordered a couple Coronas, and I had a large margarita which was very delicious and totally hit the spot. Had it not been for the eclipse, I could easily have stayed and had more! Let me tell you, I for one was shocked. I'm very resistant to going to Mexican Food outside the SW. It's typically terrible. This place was quite good. The prices were incredibly cheap. The salsa was built for a Midwestern palate (lol) so ask for the spicy salsa. Chips good. Margaritas were $15 for a large pitcher of tasty deliciousness that hit perfectly on that hot afternoon. I want to give a shout out to this restaurant! We took my parents there for lunch and it was a wonderful experience. My 85 year old dad has Parkinson’s and they were so accommodating for him. They prepared his food special for us to make it easier for him to eat, brought him his drink in a cup with a lid without even being asked, and supplied us with lots of napkins.
