I seldom eat in a sit-down restaurant because I can rarely afford it, but having the money and a hankering for Mexican food, I today went to Lindo Mexico. From the minute I walked in the door I was dealing with friendly, professional people. The young lady who seated me was more than willing to give me what I wanted, whether the bar, a booth, or a table, though since I was alone I let her decide, and she showed me to a very nice booth with a view. The server (I believe Mark was his name, though I can't swear to it - I'm terrible at remembering names) was there almost immediately, brought my Coke much faster than I expected, showed no impatience as I dithered between two options, and finally took my order without any difficulties.
I ordered a barbacoa burrito, and since I'd heard the server speaking Spanish to the people in the next booth, I went ahead and used the Spanish pronunciations (I speak only a little Spanish, but my accent, more than one native speaker has told me, is perfect). When the burrito came I knew immediately that it was going to be probably more than I could eat at one sitting, and I was right - a little less than a quarter of it came home with me. The thing was delicious, and the only very small quibble I have is that I could've used a little more guacamole in it - but that's not actually a problem, just my preference.
When I was done Mark (as I say, I think that was his name) was quick with a box for the remnant of the burrito, quick with the check, and quick to return after running my card. He was courteous and professional the entire time, and while I can't recall the exact words, when he wished me a good day at the end of it I believe he was fully sincere and not just saying it.
I have to confess that I was reading a book on my phone while I ate - I've been reading while I eat for decades - so I didn't notice a lot of the interior of the restaurant, but what I did see was clean, pleasant, sufficiently lighted even at the bar (alas, some places make it too dark), and had plenty of room. If I'm ever back I'll have to pay more attention to the decor, which I didn't note at all.
Overall, I really enjoyed my visit today. I can't swear I'll be back, but I'll definitely keep Lindo...
Read moreWorst service in history. So had lunch with a business associate, we sat at the bar. We asked for Cadillac Margaritas with Grand Mariner and he instead made them with Triple Sec and lots of salt. I asked the bar tender to remake them with no salt and he simply poured them into new glasses without salt on the rim, so all the salt just went to the bottom of the new glasses.
We ordered the Plato Del Rio entre, requesting the steak be Medium rare.... It came out over well done... when we requested them to be remade medium well no less then 4 people came to us and then explained that the steak is too thin and they couldn't make it medium rare. We then requested a different steak and ordered a Rib Eye steak instead. when the steak arrived it actually was medium rare but was bland with no taste. when we asked why there was no seasoning on the steak they said because you asked for no salt on the Margarita.
The bill arrived with everything including the original plates we sent back. When i asked why it was on the bill, the "Manager" said he could not do anything about it because i took a bite out of one of the shrimp before i sent the plate back. This is the 3rd and last time i will ever frequent this establishment the service is horrible. The management is subpar and the service can't be worse. Sad because i have heard others say the food is actually good, but everyone says the same thing.... The staff is not trained and it's not a language barrier, they actually hire people who have no business in the service industry.
I recommend if you want good service to never go...
Read moreWe have eaten at Lindo Mexico for years since they were on Zuni and San Pedro. The Central location has always been awesome to us. We tried the new Lindo Mexico Grill and seafood location on Spain and were disappointed. Three of us ordered the caldo de mariscos, which is great at the Central location, but was not good at Spain. The soup was overly salty, had a skimpy amount of seafood in it, and tasted more like crab boil than caldo. We also had the house margaritas and were happy with them until the last round, which were too sweet and just not good. When our friends’ elderly mother tried to send the caldo back, we were told we would be charged for it even though she asked for a different caldo. Apparently the policy is that once it is served it has to be charged to the customer, which we saw on the final bill. We then asked for a manager to come and explain this to us. He told us that was the policy but did eventually agree to take the caldo off of the bill. He said he could not refund the three bad margaritas but did take one off the bill. I hope this location gets better in the future because as I said, we’ve always loved Lindo Mexico, this place being the exception. We will not come back to the Spain location until they improve the food quality and realize the restaurant business is about pleasing customers. BTW, I say this as someone whose parents owned many successful restaurants. I mean this review to encourage improvement more than...
